The so-called freeze plugs, more correctly core plugs, are a natural consequence of the way the cast items are produced.
There are usually several core plugs in the cylinder head and block, most of which are visible (with difficulty) and often one at the rear behind the flywheel...

SOURCE: spark plug replacement
Plugs are under the coil pack. The black rectangle on top of the valve cover. Remove the plug on the drivers side, and remove the 4, 10mm bolts. Lift up the coil straight up. Will be fairly tough, and your plug wells are in there.

One is front of the cat, and one after the cat of the exhaust.
The OBD Scanner should tell you which bank is producing the error.
Bank one is the front one.

If only the trunk release is not working, did you check to see if the little lever arm switch on the trunk lid at the latch assembly is switched to enable the release? Mine came switched to the 'Off' position when I bought it and it took me a few days to figure that one out.

It will be attached to the frame recessed into a nook on the drivers side just forward of the gas tank.
