The oil filter is in an aluminum cylinder on the engine. It is not a "spin on" filter, it is now a cartridge-type filter. If you removed the camshaft cover, you should probably replace the gasket or at a minimum insure that all bolts are torqued to OEM specification.

It is on the drivers side on the chassis.
yes you can change it yourself. Make sure you de-pressurize the system before removing (undo the gas cap).
Also...order the filter from bavarian auto or one of the online stores. The one you need is with the pressure regulator.
If you go to autozone, etc. they will sell you the worng filter.
