Hi,
I'm a little confused. You want it to come on?
The check engine light comes on when you have a problem with the engine or drive train. If it hasn't come on, that's a good thing. It's not meant to be a reminder to check oil or anything like that.,, Please clarify? Thanks!

Is it difficult to replace check engine bulb? Failed emmisions because #5 cylinder misfire and they say it also failed because check engine light dosent come on. I can fix spark plug but don't want to screw anything up if I dig too deep for a bulb

I have a 96 crown vic intercepter that is hesitating when i push on the gas.also the check engine light is flashing

When the check engine light is flashing, it means that the system has detected a misfire condition that can cause damage to the catalytic converter if not repaired. Try to drive the vehicle as little as possible until the problem can be addressed. Look for bad coil pack or shorted injector or driver

96 Crown Vic will not start. Has spark, has fuel, crash button is set, has oil, Will run when fuel start is sprayed into carb. Any ideas ?

Check your fuel pressure to the Injectors at the pressure valve. Then check the wiring to the Injectors to see if they are getting power. Backtrack the Injector wiring if it is dead.

Your Crankshaft and Cam sensors would be working to supply the sparkplugs their power in the firing sequence. You need to check the part that supplies the Injectors their power in sequence.

Usually a bad TPS throttle position sensor will make a "Check Engine" light turn on. This part is on the drivers side of the Airhorn behind all the plastic Air filter ductwork. It has 2 screws and 1 electric connector. Unplug the connector and use an Ohmmeter to watch for resistance to change as you work the accelerator cable attached to the opposite side of the Airhorn. Connect the Ohmmeter to the TPS switch. The Resistance should change if the switch is good. If nothing happens, replace the TPS.

My 96 crown vic stalls out for no reason

First, has the fuel filter been changed, and is the fuel pump in good working order. Next, the engine will stall only every once and awhile, have the MAF sensor on the air intake checked. This will cause what you are having. The engine will stall, then start up right after. This sensor costs a few $$$, since only Ford has it, but they can check it, and like your mechanic says, while it's running there's nothing to find wrong. But, from experience, I know the MAF sensor will do this. Once you open the new box from Ford. it's your's. You could try and find a good used one from a scrap yard, put in on yourself, it's not hard, run the car and keep your'r with you. If you have a problem with the used one, just change over. If this works, then you can buy a new one. Good luck.

1997 Crown Vic blows radio fuses

The quickest way to find a short circuit is by putting a bulb in place of the fuse. Anytime the time the bulb lights there is a load. And if the load is a shorted wire the brightness of the bulb will give you a hint. So while you're at it, finding a 'short' is a quicky...keep your eyes on the bulb. gotcha!

89 Crown Vic brake lights work when park, not when moving.

Replace, or adjust your brakelight switch located on the brake pedal arm.
