If you have front wheel drive transaxle, then the cv joint(s) could have just allowed the axle to disengage from the transaxle so that the axle will not allow the car to engage the transmission. Tranny should be ok (hopefully). I was quoted 350 for parts and labor for the cv joints (both of them). I found remanufactured joints for about 50 a piece, then the labor. sk
The bearing in side cv may have broken replace cv shaft to make sure if it is broken or not try to push the car back and forth while it is in park if moves that means forsure the cv shft is broken
Hate to be the bearer of bad news but it sounds as if you may have waited to long to have your cv joint replaced and now it has possibly caused some internal damge that may even have affected your transmission, but all hope isnt lost, try and have the vehicle twoed to a shop you trust and have them take the joint out and check for what type of damages anwhat the repair cost would be
