Check spark plug gaps no year given can also be a bad cap and rotor or the throttle position sensor is worn /coil/ boots on coils leaking voltage coolant/oil leaking into spark plug chambers causing misfiring check all first before spending money you didn't specify year of vehicle so somethings may apply and may not post back with precise info for more help if needed
Ok as mentioned before check your plug gaps cap & rotor also your pony is OBD1 AND YOU NEED TO READ CODES FROM THE PCM IT WILL GIVE YOU AN IDEA WHAT'S HAPPENING IT COULD BE YOUR EGR VALVE FROM A BAD VACUUM LINE IS CLOSING AND NOT LETTING EXHAUST GASES RECIRCULATION CAUSING A BUILD UP INSIDE THE COMBUSTION CHAMBERS AND THIS WILL THROW OFF THE AIR FUEL MIXTURE WHICH WILL MAKE YOU STALL AND THEN UNABLE TO START IT AGAIN TILL THOSE FUMES VENT OUT INTO THE EVAP CANISTER AND THE ATMOSPHERE THREW THE THROTTLE BODY AND AIR CLEANER GO TO OBD1 CODE READING PROCEDURE TO SEE THE DIAGRAM OF THE 2 CONNECTORS UNDER THE HOOD ON THE FENDER TO PUT JUMPER WIRES AND YOU CAN COUNT THE FLASHES USING A TEST LIGHT/ MULTIMETER/CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR A HARD WIRED TAIL LIGHT BULB THIS WILL HELP YOU A LOT NOW AND IN THE FUTURE I COULD EXPLAIN IT HERE BUT IT'S BETTER THAT YOU SEE IT IN FRONT OF YOU AND YOU CAN SAVE THE ARTICLE AND THE CODE LIST OF SYMPTOMS OK GOOD LUCK STEPHEN
Also the egr may be clogged you can clean it out with anything a drill bit screw driver and carb cleaner the ports allow the unburned fuel GASES TO BE RETURNED BACK INTO THE SYSTEM BUT IF ITS CLOGGED THOSE GASES CAN'T GET OUT OF THE CYLINDERS AND NEW GAS AND OLD GASES ARE THROWING THE AIR FUEL MIXTURE OFF CAUSING THE STALL WHEN YOU PULL OUT THE PLUGS BESIDES CHECKING THE GAPS THEY SHOULD BE BLACK FROM CARBON FOULING AND IF YOU DO IT AS SOON AS it happens they will be wet from to much fuel in the cylinders wear gloves the plugs are extremely hot in a bare hand and about 205*-215*ok let me know your progress stephen
As for the tachometer check fuse and connector and the wires for it

It may need to be checked while it? having the tantrum.
Fuel delivery from contaminated fuel filter, fuel pump/tank, pressure regulator, vapor lock.
Sensors: coolant temp, intake preheat (stove), intake temp.
I guess it would be fuel delivery restriction or preheat intake stove ( easy to check ) for starters.

Your speed sensor in your trans. needs to be checked out sounds like its not working or not getting a good signal until its generating enough power and speed to start until it reaches 30 MPH. Check that out sometimes it could just be some dirt on it. It all makes sense the ABS light is on because its not reading the speed of the tires, and the AOD light is on because It has no idea when to shift into overdrive without knowing how fast its going. I sure Hope that Helps You Out, And Thanks, Bear001

What about the fuel filter????? Have you changed it out??? If you can spary something like a started fluid, that means it is a fuel problem. My last check, it has to be above 50-psi on the fuel pressure to make it run right. I had 35psi, but whould not get over 30mph or down hill maybe 45mph. Check both filter & pressure, but check pressure with a New fule filter!!!!

These trucks have a drive by wire system,we seen a` lot with a broken ground wire on the rear of the drverside cyl head, this is hard to see just feel and give the wire a tug .If the wire is loose or broken the reduced engine power light will come on.

i want you to get OBD trouble codes from your computer. then post them on here. im sure it will hold clues to what the problem is...Various auto part stores will do this service for free in hopes you will buy parts from them...but call them first and make sure. parts to look at Idle Air Control (IAC) Valve...it acts like a choke with modern engines. also the Coolant temp sensor is associated with this as well. Second is the Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor. and last one is your Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor . lastly it could be the Throttle position sensor (TPS).. all these can be detected on your computer within the car. although the the numbered codes will be labeled with abreviations like MAP Sensor or IAC valve. also you can manually test all these sensors at home with a regular voltage tester and reading some online info...just search " How to test a MAP sensor" almost all sensors have very similar readings from car to car, so its pretty generic. hope this helps
SOURCE: throttle/Idle/running problem - wants to run too fast, or stall out
RPM's up and down check EGR valve and sensor. EGR valve and sensor control idle. That's why your getting the surging on rpm's and this could be giving out the other codes. If mass flow was bad car will not start and the same for the map sensor. O2 sensor measures gas and air for right mixer. TPS controls 0-60 speed as in throttle respons.
