It could be the fuse, the relay or the fan motor. Start by checking the fuse and if it's good swap the relay with one with the same number if the fan doesn't run unplug it and use a test light to check for current if the test light lights the fan motor is bad. I hope this helps. Take care.

SOURCE: Cooling fan wont work

The water temp sensor is located near the thermostat housing. This sensor is what tells the ECM to turn the fan on/off. The water temp sending unit is located near the same area. You know you have the correct sensor is because the water temp sensor has a 2 prong plug. The water temp sending unit only has 1 prong.

Each fan will throw a different code. See 3 fans listed for your model. Here's a link for the wiring schematic: http://www.chiltonlibrary.com/content/images/WD/GM/014/WD_GM_014788.pdf

Best of luck.

Did you replace the sensor by the thermostat in the engine block or the one under the drivers headlight, There are two, the one next to the thermostat controls the temp gauge in the vehicle. the one under the headlight assembly controls the actual fans and is a electronic module. You have to remove the head light assembly to get to it.

A lady friend has a 1996 88 olds LS she said that it stalled out about 2 months ago and did the same thing just the other day. What could be the cause of this. I'm thinking fuel filter.

Rather then thinking ,test ! Do fuel pressure testing ,flow testing . Check factory specifications manual . View engine sensor data parameters ,if you don't know what these thing's are your best bet ,take it to a qualified repair shop . Could be a sensor is starting to go bad , crank , cam , dirty mass air flow sensor , coolant temp sensor , IAC - idle air control ,EGR valve sticking open , carbon etc....

My 1983 oldsmobile delta 88 runs til it heats up. Then it stalls out and won't start til it cools off. What could it be?

When it stalls out, if it cranks good but won't start, have a helper crank it while you visually check for spark at the spark plugs. A spark tester from the auto store doesn't cost much, you can carry it in your glove box. If the engine is hot, wear gloves.

With temp issues check the coolant temp sensor. How long since a tune-up, I'd also want to check fuel pressure. Check for applicable trouble codes. Your obd1, you should be able to check codes, yourself. You use a jumper wire between the A & B terminals at the data link connector, usually lower edge of dash between steering column and driver door. Turn key just till the dash lights come on, no further. The mil on the dash starts flashing, you count the flashes to get the codes. Your looking for two digit codes.

1996 Honda accord no crank intermittently

cranking is turning the engine over
from you misinterpretation of the term the problem is that it is cranking but not running
if that is correct then yes the cam shaft position sensor may very well be the cause of the not running at times as it controls the ignition and injector operation , the same as the crank shaft position sensor
could be a loose connection that has now come apart or the sensor has finally reached a point of failure that it needs to be replaced

The T/C OFF light comes on with the check engine soon light, it begins to sputter and engine dies...(after 10 minutes of driving). pulled codes was the crank sensor replaced and still having the same...

The traction control uses the engine, so when the check engine light is on the traction control is disabled.
Depending on the code, it could be something in the wiring instead of the sensor.

1996 oldsmobile 88 will start but dies out and when trying to start again it will not start only crank an hour later it will start fine and die out after half hour and will not start again

This sounds very much like a faulty crankshaft sensor as these are typical symptoms of an intermittent sensor fault that fails when the engine gets hot causing the engine to stall - but works again when the engine cools down.

You may or may not also have an engine check light showing before the engine stalls.

You can have the car scanned for error codes - Autozone will do this for free but if your car is not OBD II compliant they may or may not have the earlier OBD I reader.

You can check the crank sensor using an oscilloscope but this is a bit involved and you will need to have the equipment and knowhow. To be honest I would just change the sensor out as it is not that expensive and is the prime suspect in my view from what you describe.

Hope this helps. Please do take a minute to leave a vote for the solution.

electrical is the weakest link-you may have a computer with issues and before replacin a reprogram should be considered--what did vehicle scan tell you? Data recorders are often placed in cars that show no codes--Older cars can have solenoids and components that heat up and stop engine--if theres a distributer cap-inspec for corrosion

Check engine light stay on code PO107 veh.1996 oldsmobile 88 stalls and quits running after a short time. I changed the fuel filter, continues stalling.

P0107 map sensor circuit low- the map sensor sends signal to computer for control of fuel injection, it's on firewall side of engine, above right valve cover(firewall side) little black rectangular box with 3 wire connector and a vacuum line hooked to it. if it's vacuum line is ok -there is another connection at other end of hose/plastic tube make sure that vaccum supply to sensor is good, if it is, sensor probably bad can check out but not outside a shop or a computer diagnostics. if vacuum supply is good i'd probably just try a sensor

While driving, the engine dies.

I had the same thing happen on a 91 Olds 88. Replaced crank shaft position sensor, coil, and ignition module. That solved the problem. I think the culprit was the CSP Sensor, but changed all three so can't say for sure.
