Since I can't get a straight answer out of anyone and infinitis seem to be this freaking mysterious unfixable thing, I got one last question. I have an 04 Infiniti i35. It's in lockdown mode. I absolutely refuse to go to the dealer. I've hired a locksmith at the tune of $240, he came out, made a new key and it started like 5-7 times and then lockdown , called the guy back and he did it again for another $100, same thing, 5-7 times and lockdown. I have bought a ton of little things to do it somehow myself. I believe I have the right combination now. I bought a reprograming kit and have watched the YouTube videos, though none are of Infiniti, anyways, one good one said to look for the ic900 chip in my ecu, said it was standard on most ecm's, but again, we're talking about Infiniti now, so of course not... I have magnified, combed over with a fine tooth comb and even taken close pics and magnified those and found no such chip. Can anyone please tell me what the equivalent of my cars chip is. Supposedly a 6 or 8 leg chip

ok here is what i suspect. your keys have a set electrical resistance. that is what the chip on the side of them is for. it changes the resistance of the key. when you put it in your ignition it completes the passlock circuit allowing your car to start. for some reason either your keys are no longer the correct resistance or your passlock circuit is broken somewhere. possibly could be a computer "glitch". there are so many factors on this one it is going to be almost impossible to fix without putting it on a scan tool and seeing what your passlock system is doing. your best bet is to take it to a shop but i am sure you already heard that one. in the best case you may be able to find out what the resistance of your key is and have your passlock reset to that resistance.

The procedure goes like this. First get in the car and lock all the doors. Secondly insert and remove the key repeatedly until the turn signal indicators on the dash flash twice simultaneously, it should be like seven or eight times. Then turn the key on and press the lock button on the remote and the lights should flash again. After that turn the key off and manually unlock and open the drivers door, then shut it. Wait a few seconds then try the remote.

I35's do not have timing belts. They have timing chains and do not need to be replaced. The only Infiniti vehicles with timing belts are the J30 and the QX4. So whoever told you that you had a belt doesn't know what they are talking about.

$100 is not so much like getting your car totally knocked.

some of the nissan/infiniti 3.5L engines have been known to have internal ring/valve seal problems therefore you should either keep a quart or two in your trunk or think about selling it.You should change your oil a little early because synthetic oil tend to break up sludge in your engine the first time it is introduced.Longer intervals are ok after that.
