It's a surprise that an Elantra would last 10 years. Time to get this issue to a mechanic, and trade the car in. Look for a car that will last without issues and problems. I owned a new Hyundai Elantra for four years, and paid for it twice from so many electrical, steering, and suspension issues. I now drive an Infinity for the past 7 years, drove it for 160,000 miles, and not a single repair bill. Just maintenance. Other cars you may consider are Volkswagen, Volvo, Lexus, and Audi.
