CAUTION: When cleaning the gasket faces, do not allow debris to enter the intake manifold or exhaust gas recirculation valve.
Clean the gasket faces of the intake manifold and exhaust gas recirculation valve.
SOURCE: need to replace the starter
nope... it's on the bottom of the motor... or rather mounted there... i'm not familiar with that car... is the motor in sideways or front to back.... either way... the starter drives a gear on the back of the motor located where the transmission is bolted onto the motor. so look at that spot on either side of the motor on the bottom.. best to just lay on the ground and look up at the motor... unless you have car ramps you can drive the car up on. be sure to unhook the battery... usually two bolts hold it on.... drop the starter... unhook the cables and make sure you put them on the new starter the same way... mount the starter back on and tighten the bolts and you are good to go.

Have you had the code reset using an OBD 1 scan tool? It must be reset as the code remains in the computer.
SOURCE: code p0400 keeps coming up after changing the egr valve and sol.
You need to check the passages from the egr valve to the intake to see if there is excessive carbon buildup thereby blocking the passage to the intake. The principle is that when the test for the code runs it is to determine if the egr system is operating correctly. It opens the egr valve to lean out the fuel mixture an so determine if the system is operating correctly. If the code is for electrical operation of the valve it will be an electrical issue

Remove the throttle body housing on the top of the intake, it is a 90 degree tunnel like small piece held by 4 small bolts, turn it over and look for two holes, these holes are for the EGR valve flow, they are probably plugged up with carboned crud, clean them out with the tip of a screwdriver if neccessary to remove all the crud, once its clean reinstall it and reset your check engine light, hope this helps, let me know
