SOURCE: 2002 kia rio, where is the crankshaft position

A crankshaft position (CKP) sensor is mounted on the front of transmission case adjacent to the flywheel. The CKP sensor is a hall-effect type sensor that generates voltage using a sensor and a target wheel mounted on the crankshaft. There are 58 slots and one longer slot on the target wheel. When the slot in the wheel aligns with the sensor, the sensor voltage output is low (approx. 0V). and it is high (approx.5V) when a slot is not aligned with the sensor. During one crankshaft rotation there are 58 rectangular signals and one longer signal. The ECM calculates the frequency to compute engine rpm to determine the injection duration and ignition timing. Using the signal differences caused by the longer slot, ECM identifies which cylinder is on top dead center

There will be a camshaft and crankshaft sensor so be sure you replaced the correct one. The code its giving you is a dead sign of no start and a bad sensor. Make sure its electrical connector is hooked up tight and its seated properly.

Hi Jamie, I cannot find that fault code! I suggest that you look at the coil packs which control the ignition and the crankshaft and camshaft sensors. These are the areas most likely to cause random misfire. You should also look at the condition of the spark plugs. Fitting a new set wouldn't be a bad idea, but get the recommended plugs of the correct heat range and type. Regards John

Where is camshaft sensor located on kia picanto 1.1

Remove Air filter and all related housings including right hand side next to battery. Sensor is underneath fitted horizontally into camshaft end housing and front facing. Electrical connection also faces front.. Remove electrical connector. Fixing bolt is underneath sensor. Warning - on removal some oil will escape.

No spark but everything replaced new. still wont run

Doesn't sound like a coil pack fault i'd say either a bad earth or a cam/crankshaft sensor. have them both checked out by an auto electrician. Or you could be sleeping in your garage for months trying to sort the problem.
