I bought a brand new Motomaster Jump Starter and Power Pack, the 1200 amp one. I plugged it in, it's fully charged. My battery in my 2000 Jeep is totally dead. Haven't driven in for 3-4 days. This is the 4th time this has happened. After the 3rd time I bought the jump starter. I plugged the cables adapter into the booster, hooked the cables to my battery, and not a sound when I turn the key. Do I need a new battery...and what is causing it to die ?

check the wire terminals on the starter, they may be loose and not making proper contact

Assuming the motor is not frozen, you are probably not getting 12 V *at the starter motor* while cranking.
Also, try charging the battery; a dead battery may draw so much power from the jump that there still is not enough left for the starter - specially if you are using marshmallow $5.00 jumper cables.
Check it out and correct the problem (Bad ground?).
If this is a manual transmission, you can check tha the motor is not frozen by putting it in 3rd gera and rocking it to see if the motor turns. Remember to put it back in neutral befor you play some more with the starter motor

Hi my name is Tom and I am here to help.
You are on the right track with a heavy duty battery. You have a diesel engine. It has a high compression. If you replace your starter with a heavy duty one, that should clear up your problem.
If I can be of further help let me know.

If you have power to the small trigger lead on the starter when you turn the key to the on position, problem could be the starter or the starter solenoid. If there is no power there check the starter relay and relay connections. Could also be the ignition switch itself.
Only test after the battery is verified as good, terminals are clean and both ends of battery main wires are checked for tightness.

You have problaby blown a 40 to 60 amp fuse, which should be one of the largest fuses in the fuse box, or a copper or aluminum strip - just pull it out and take it to your local auto parts house and they will sell you another one - good luck and have a nice day :O)
