That means your horn and electrical to the horn are good. You may have a bad clock spring under the steering wheel, or a bad switch. Don't forget to check the horn fuse. It may have a different circuit than the FOB.

But why does the horn not work when i take it out and directly connect them to the battery?

I was assuming it was the same horn. The theft horn is different. Check power and ground when you push horn button. Most likely you have a bad horn. I will look at schematic tomorrow

SOURCE: horn wont blow

the problem is the rotating contact that connects the horn to the steering column wiring harness, this part is called the clock-spring contact, u must remove the steering wheel to change the part out.

SOURCE: Dodge stratus horn

Todd, If your Air Bag Light is on and your cruise control does not work. Contact me before doing the test procedure below!

Todd, sense you have the steering wheel cover off, we need to check to see if it will honk when you take the ground wire for the horn and ground it anywhere to a good ground, preferably the ground post from the battery. We know this is always a perfect ground! The wire for the horn will be a single wire all by itself. If it doesn't Honk see below.

Next: Next we want to ground the horn wire coming out of the other side of the steering wheel, this is much harder but will tell us what we need to know.

Let me know what you find!

SOURCE: 1999 toyota corolla Horn doesn't work.

Usually the wire from the steering wheel is Green w/Red and the wire to the horn from the fuse box is White. There is only one fuse, sometimes shared with the emergency lights. Check to see if there is power to the horn itself with a volt meter.

SOURCE: My 99 Toyota Avalon horn does not make any sound.

save yourself the hassle , buy yourself a momentary 12volt switch drill a nice clean hole on your driversside dash and re-wire your horn to it, all the screwing around you'll do to figure out why toyota makes cheesy horn contacts you could have your problem fixed..

on one side of the switch you should run a wire that is a 12volt switched +
on the other side I would run another side run a new power wire to your horn
leave your horns stock ground and just replace the HOTLINE ..

you could even go as far as installing a la cou ca racha horn to bring back that 70's Lowrider feel lol

SOURCE: Would appreciate help for a Toyota Corolla 2007 non-working horn.

If the horn works with direct connection, and fuse, relay, and circuit breaker are all good, it's the switch in the steering wheel. If it is anything like the chrysler auto's, the switch and the air bag module is all one unit, can't replace just the switch, the whole thing, and it's about $700 to $800 for those units, at least it is here, and can only get them at a dealer.

08 ford edge, horn does not work at steering wheel, but works when locking car with key fob.

there may be a problem with wiring in steering column? The horn switch on steering wheel and that wiring circuit is ground for control side of horn relay. The horn relay is not serviceable. If the relay was the problem, you could mount external relay. It just depends on the problem? If the horn sounds at all then I don't think the fuse is the problem. good luck

Need the BCM and under steering wheel/dash console wiring diagram for 2003 Hummer H2. I need to know the 2 wires for the horn leading to and from the steering wheel horn trigger

That's not how wiring diagrams are drawn. They're drawn by system, not location. See this post on how to get the diagram you're looking for

2003 H2 not working

Do you have an air bag light lit on the instrument cluster ? Do you have C.C. button's on the steering wheel , do they work ? If the alarm fob (as u call it ) Can make the horns sound , the relay is sending B+ voltage to the horns Don't know how your testing.
System Description
The horn system consists of the following components:
ā€¢ Horn fuse
ā€¢ Horn relay
ā€¢ Horn switch
ā€¢ Horn(s)
ā€¢ Body Control Module (BCM)
System Operation
The vehicle horns are activated under the following conditions:
ā€¢ The horn switch is depressed.
ā€¢ The body control module (BCM) commands the horns on. The BCM commands the horns on under either of the following conditions:
- When the content theft deterrent system detects a vehicle intrusion. For further information, refer to Content Theft Deterrent (CTD) Description and Operation in Theft Deterrent.
- When the panic button is depressed on the remote control door lock transmitter. For further information, refer to Keyless Entry System Description and Operation in Keyless Entry.
- When the OnStarĀ® system is used to sound the horns, if equipped. For further information, refer to OnStar Description and Operation in Cellular Communications.
- When the keyless entry system is used to lock the vehicle, a horn chirp may sound to notify the driver that the vehicle has been locked. The notification feature may be enabled or disabled through personalization. For further information, refer to Keyless Entry System Description and Operation in Keyless Entry.

Circuit Operation
Battery positive voltage is applied at all times to the horn relay coil and the horn relay switch. Pressing the horn switch applies ground to the horn relay control circuit. The body control module BCM may also apply ground to the horn relay control circuit as described above. When the horn relay control circuit is grounded, the horn relay is energized and battery positive voltage is applied to the horn(s) through the horn control circuit. The horn(s) sound as long as ground is applied to the horn relay control circuit.

You may of forgot to plug back in the ground wire that connects to the horn bracket under the air bag. It's just a single wire and should have a tiny black connector on the end of it.

2000 SERRIA, HORN WILL NOT WORK WHEN YOU DEPRESS THE HORN BUTTON, WILL SOUND OFF WHEN YOU PUSH THE ALARM BOTTON, WHAT IS THE SOLUTION. JOE, POQUOSON VA.

If the horn works with the alarm button but not with the steering wheel horn pad the problem is most likely in the contacts beneath the steering wheel. This requires pulling the steering wheel and repairing the contacts.
If this vehicle has an air bag in the steering wheel make sure to deactivate the airbag circuit before pulling the steering wheel.
