Good answer from Mike try checking your spark plug gap also is this engine overheating feel the top hose for heat and boiling inside if so when the engine is cool check the coolant inside the degas bottle if it is reddish brown or a greenish or tan gritty residue there's stop leak in the engine and you must get this out because it clogged everything up and it will make the engine temperature very high which will burn up the fuel air mixture causing the engine rpms to raise making it run even hotter and the cooling fan/s will constantly keep coming on with in 30 seconds of the last time also the transmission fluid will be burnt causing the tranny to slip and need more gas pedal to move =higher engine temperature
Also very good answer. Some parts seem familiar. Enuff to chk out. Thanks Stephen. I had all fluids & filters chk'd & thusly changed just after car came to me. It was needed! But I have experienced some of this I.e. granny occasionally having a " slip" or hesitation . very intermitant & slight but I notice. & minor on other u touched o & not some. Ill C. Back attcha later.

If you're sure the engine is running cool enough check the fuel pressure, low fuel pressure can vapor lock if the engine is hot enough the gas will boil. The boiling point of 87 octane is 181 degrees Fahrenheit although gas is constantly being returned to the tank in order to cool the fuel rail low pressure will not return enough leaving room in the rail for gas to boil. Ignition coils are also known to break down when hot. I hope this helps. Take care.

weird this one??dealer for diagnosis i think as could be anything from low fuel pump pressure to air flow meter or temperature sensor in air intake.
SOURCE: I have a 2003 VW Jetta 1.8t that is overheating.
Assuming engine tune / mechanical condition is not the cause of the overheating:-
Ensure cooling fan is cutting in at the appropriate engine temperature - check operation of the fan controlling relay,
Ensure fan switching control temperature sensor is serviceable,
Ensure cooling system is filled properly, taking care to bleed out air where necessary,
Ensure coolant pressure cap is of correct rating and in serviceable condition,
Check coolant hose on suction side of waterpump is not softened and collapsing at engine revs above idle,
Ensure radiator core is not blocked or cooling airflow inhibited by insects etc.

Sounds like you have a faulty head gasket or maybe a cracked head. This can cause overheating and the check engine light to come on.The code for the o2 sensor is probably caused by coolant getting into the exhaust system and coating the sensor. The coolant fan may work but it cannot remove enough heat from the rad to make the engine cool off.Try some engine coolant stop leak to see if it will help. This maybe only a temperary fix.Let me know if you need more.MOE

Radiator fan or AC blower motor? The blower motor will have a fuse and a relay. The radiator fan is controled by the Variable Relay Control Module and temp sensor.... the module is located behind the grill---hope this helps.
