Didyou replace the manifold heater?
have you checked the relay?have you checked to see if there is actualy power getting to the glow plugs? and also the fuse .
It is very srtange ,if the glow plugs are working ,for it not to fire up straightaway .Does it miss when it does first start? If so, the glow plugs are not all working.Last thing try giving it a squirt of aero start, or starter fluid , if with that ,if it doesn`t start straight away, then you better come back to me as i have another idea what could be a problem but I dont think the glow plugs are working properly so try the aero start first "youdoit"

93 Land Cruser wont start first try when sitting overnight. Turning the key clicks like a dead battery, after a couple of trys it cranks up normally. Battery/connects tested good. What else? Starter?

Before you get involved with the starter ... look at the earthing lead from the battery to to the engine/bodywork.

A poor earthing strap is a classic symptom of the problem you derscribe

Toyota Landcruiser HZJ 75 - diesel engine - just won't start - have replaced all the glow plugs - still not happening - can anyone give me anymore ideas. Thank you

Have you got fuel to injectors, have you got power to the fuel solenoid and is it working, by a clicking sound in the solenoid, have you checked the power in your battery because if it turns to slow it won't start, and also it could be compression will make it hard to start, there is a few things to check. Good luck

100 series toyota cold start problem

If your after market turbo is blowing oil into the engine, best you have it removed. When you say that fuel may be leaking into the cylinders, it could be leaking fuel injectors. If the smoke out of the tail pipe, it's usually indicator of burning coolant. Blue smoke is indicator of fuel and black of oil.

Car wont start when engine is cool

sounds like a glow plug problem,if it starts o.k. when warm, but not when cold, does it smoke a lot when trying to start it cold,if so i would say your glow plugs are either burned out or theres no power to them when you turn on the key,do you see the glow plug light on the dash,it may light, but that doesn,t mean the glow plugs are getting power

My 1996 model Toyota Landcruiser is giving me starting problem. I have to use a longer self & sometimes engine cranks with much effort. The battery is new. Where is the problem? is it with starter...

if the glow plugs are originals they may need replacements soon. The starter can be removed and bench tested easily. If mounted in a vise securely you can test it direct for drag

Turbo diesel, cranks but does not start when it is cold.

Have the cold start valve replaced, it enriches the fuel mix during cold start and check the glow plugs and see if any are bad, to test remove the wires and put test meter to ohms and one by one test each glow plug with one probe to ground and one on the tip of the glow plug see it it goes close to zero if it does not move then that glow plug is bad, replace all that you find bad.
