What is Code P1456 DTC

P1456 is a Honda manufacturer specific code for Evaporative Emissions Canister Leak Detected. Honda has a Technical Service Bulletin about that code that you should read but most often that code is caused either by a bad seal on the gas cap, or the cap no being tight enough. Either way, DTC P1456 isn't related to the vehicle not starting so you'll need to look elsewhere for the cause of the no start condition. First things to check are to see if there is fuel getting to the engine, and if there is spark getting to plugs. Hope that helps.

P1456 code

Your Code P1456 is a EVAP (Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected). Normally this is a leak in the System and will not cause a Miss. The Fuel goes to the Fuel Rail and the Excess is sent back to the Fuel Tank via the EVAP System. There is a Purge Valve on top of the tank that is probably causing the leak. The Miss is another issue (Spark Plugs, Ignition, Coil, or clogged fuel filter) would be where I would start.

My 2000 honda civic engine light on code p1456

Hey I had the same code and I have a 2000 honda civic lx. My cousin works at honda and drives a '96 honda civic and he has had that code before on his car as well.

First thing he came up with was that the catalytic converter was cracked. We checked mines, and lo and behold, that's what it was.

Look under your hood, and there should be a catalytic converter with a sensor sticking out of it. It is connected to the exhaust manifold and the sensor sticks out of the heat shield. Around the sensor, look for a crack. If there's a crack, that's your problem.
