On our 2000 Lincoln LS with 3.9 V8 the plastic bushings in the linkage between the accelerator cable bell crank and the throttle body bell crank have disintegrated and caused the linkage to come loose. The dealer says they are not available by them selves and only come with a new throttle body for $400 dollars. Kind of expensive for a couple of plastic bushings. Any one know where to get these or have another solution?
Thanks
Bob R.
I had the same thing happen to my 2001. I Got a good stiff close hanger (metal) and made my own clasp. It cost me nothing and It's been working for over two years now. Take that Ford! $400 to fix it Ford, give me a break!!!
I found from another website that you can purchase this Ford part # which is the same exact bushing.
Ford Part Number: F5RZ-9F955-AB
I installed two of them, and it's working now.
Also, when talking to the Ford parts department, they said that the 2003 Lincoln LS shows the same part # above.
You might try a Salvage yard and see if you can get a used one. There are also Salvage yards online and nationwide that way. Part could be shipped to your door.
The second choice for me has been a Tractor dealership. They routinely replace bushings, make stainless hoses to fit equipment and readily improvise to make things work. I get custom made hoses and linkages for my boats and Farm equipment. Most of their basic supplies are still American made.
Please let us know what you found to work.
