1996 chevrolet impala ss tail lights will not work with switch, they will turn on with the alarm. already replaced light switch

The rear defro does not have power going to it with the key off. This means there is somehow a short to power to this switch, if you can remove the switch check for power at the connection. If there is power there is a short, I will send you a schematic of the circuit.

Turn signal tail lights and BRAKE LIGHTS NOT WORKING

It can be faulty brake light switch causing the problem or its blown brake light bulb. First check and confirm brake light lamp is working and that's not the case.

a bad turn signal switch the brake lights go threw the turn signal switch

you have a bad ground for that tail light, trace the wires and see where the ground wire attatches to the body.

Open trunk and twistand pull bulb replace.

1996 impala ss - odometer light goes on and off - now it wont go on - would go in and out when when dimmer was moved. speedometer and odometer both worked and speeedometer still works - think is just the light?

you need to check the under hood fuse block on the right hand side you may find that one of the red feed wires has no power from the box either a maxi fuse or the box it self you could also check for power with a test light moving back from the components to the main feeds under the hood

Make sure your dash lights are all the way up (ie. dial the dash switch up to the point right before the overhead light comes on).
