What does the check engine light vcm code "fuel 14 /fail 14" mean on my jaguar xj6?

this has to do with the engines ability to warm up and meter the fuel. either the thermostat is sticking or the coolant temp sensor is out of range. there are 2 of them at least, one for the guage and one for the pcm. if you find it is the t-stat sticking, replace with jaguar parts.

FUEL FAIL 14 CODE 14

this is the most common error code, just means the one of the nods in fuel pump misfired, on every model other than the ones for usa market, after clearing the error code on vcm the check engine light would reset. for our cars its programmed to stay on.
also get fail 17 fuel 17 same thing
it will not effect the running of the car or its performance
may run a little rich

How can i tell if it is my fuel pump or fuel relay

Generally speaking if a EFI car wont start but will "turn over" there are many points in the fuel system that could be hindering the process. I would start with the fuel filter. Also if when you begin to turn the ignition on you should be able to hear a light humming noise (this is your fuel pump engaging). If you dont hear this humming it could mean a bad fuel pump. A temporary fix is to take a none abrasive or punctioning object and tap on the fuel tank... Fuel relay would have to be checked electronically...like the previous poster stated...

1992 XJ6 fuel fail code 22

FF22 is Fuel Pump Drive failure
ECU looks for sognal to the fuel pump relay.

found in jaguar-forum:
"I'm 99% sure that you have a bad fuel pump connector sending a high resistance fault to the CPU. Check your fuel pump connector at the pump. There is a very short harness in the trunk behind the spare tire and the panel behind it. I think the wires are red and blue? Anyway, the tough part is where they tend to go bad is actually at the pump in the top of the tank. You will not be able to get to it unless you have very small hands. You can get to it easier by dropping the tank a little, you probably won't have to remove the lines, just the tank straps. I have seen this connector overheat and burn. Try and clean it up and apply white grease to it.
If you start to have stalling problems in the future, strongly suspect this. Jumping the fuel relay gave me a little extra juice to the pump so I could move the car."
