1978 Camaro Slow Acceleration and backfires upon acceleration

When floored it backfires and attempts to choke out and die. I changed the sparkplugs and spark plug wires as well

    It started the backfire after i changed the spark plugs but it has had slow acceleration from the start it backfires through the carb

Check fuel filter, Did this happen after you changed the plugs and wires or before?

    also make sure the choke is working right

    You probably don't have the plug wires going to the right cylinders. correct that to fix the backfiring. Did you check the choke and fuel filter? I had a 74 camaro and it backfired thru the carb. the fuel filter was plugged and I ended up putting a manual choke on it the electric choke didnt work right

Poor idle and no acceleration on a '91 GMC Sierra 1/2 ton p/u w/4.3l v6 manual trans
there is vital information missing here
to start with it is a v 6 so there will be 2--HO2S sensors one for each bank before the cat converter and 2 --O2ensors --one for each bank after the cat converter
there is a vast difference between HO2s and O2 sensors as each reports different information to the ECM
next slow acceleration can be accelerator position sensor or throttle position motor
every time you read the codes it cancels them so you have to run the vehicle for a few miles for codes to reappear
from the codes there can be up to 7 reasons for that code to appear so you don't pick on the first one as it could be another or a combination of others

Choking and soonly acceleration.
There are 2 things that come to mind that can cause your issues.

1. Idle air control sensor. This can cause bad air/fuel mix ratio. ( bad idle, slow acceleration )

2. Throttle position sensor, ( TPS), This can cause a bad idle and slow acceleration.

Jerking on normal acceleration.
You might try a TPS switch. It should set a code but yours did't. The throttle position sensor sets the spark advance and fuel flow to match. The other possibility is the EGR system which also should set a code.
If you have not changed the fuel filter,try that because if you accellerate hard the fuel slooshes to the back of the tank.
In normal driving the contaminents lay on the bottom of the tank.
