Not exactly. If you replace the key lock and the sensor is functioning, you should be able to start the van. The computer and instrument panel are in sync, so if you replace either component they have to be reset by a Ford dealer. The sensor in the key lock sends a signal to the instrument cluster, and if the signal is right, the cluster sends the signal to the computer which then activates the necessary circuits to start the engine. The key code has to match the cluster and the computer.
There are bulbs in the instrument cluster and they are probably bad. You will have to take the instrument cluster out of the dash and take each bulb out individually to see which one is bad then replace it/them and reinstall the instrument cluster back in the dash. It sounds a lot harder than it really is.
Check engine light . Your best bet , take it to a qualified repair shop . Special testing needs to be done to determine what the problem is . Bulb or the insturment cluster .
you have a bad temp sender,if this does not solve the rough idle than you have multiple issues and your idle control valve is not functioning properly try removing and cleaning it.its also referred to as IAC (intake air control)
You may want to look at the fuse and even the wiring at the back of the dashboard. It may have gone loose, the symptoms of which was the flashing or flickering. Check the wires and the ground for the connections or it may need replacement.
