My 1991 Caravan headlights won't turn off and the highbeam indicator light stays on. I've been told that the problem is likely the daytime running lights module. Where is this module located in the vehicle and what does it look like? HarveyA

Sounds more like a stuck high beam relay. Daytime running lights module appeared sometime after '99 year. The relay should be in the fuse compartment. Pull it out to check that it is only the high beam that is on. Pull the low beam relay and place in the high beam location. If it turns on the high beams again, then try the dimmer switch to see if they go out. If that has no effect, then there is a sneak path somewhere that is turning the relay on.

In a 1992 caravan, the headlamp relay is in the engine compartment against the firewall by the passenger's hinge.

Daytime Running Lights on 07 Volkswagen Rabbit 2.5

I asked my VW friend. He said that bulb was only intended to keep the headlight area slightly lit up in the event the main light burnt out.
Some sort of safety feature.
He also said DRL's were not an option on his 2009 rabbit

Headlights alternate on and off left and right daytime/high beam

although the underhood relay panel is common, I'd check your headlamp bulbs first, these are cheaper than the fuse box. The daytime running lights work off the high beam circuit, thus, a blown highbeam bulb could be the culprit, the fusebox solution was more common on 2001 and up modles, although it's a definite possibility.

Replace the headlight switch. I had the same problem, and that solved it for me. Good luck.

Highbeams

Are you sure it's your high beam and not your DRL. Your DRL light will always be on through the day when you do not have your lights on. Indicating that your drl's are on. DRL (Daytime Running Lights) are your high beam headlights at a low wattage. The only other sympton could be that you have a burnt out headlight and this is telling you so, by having the H.B. light on. on your dash.

Headlights won't turn on. Daytime running lights stay on.

See if you can hold on your highbeams, as a temporary solution, until you can check and see if the fuse in the switch to turn your lights on is burnt out. I had the same problem with my car and apparently it was a defective part that GM had produced, but obviously they won't replace it free of charge. I would suggest going to an auto-wreckers and picking up a new switch there... the part usually costs around $400 in Canada.
