No sir they will not interchange. i worked at a transmission shop for 7 years. the inline 6 has a 500 trans in it and the v8 has a 518 trans in it. the bellhousings are different.
check fuses 5 and 8, if broken replace, then pull your overhead console off (its one screw in the front)
cut the purple wire and ground it to the ceiling, this worked for me, i had the EXCACT same problem, key for key, just make sure to use 15 amp mini fuses or youll blow something bigger causing a really big problem.
