I ran out of gas on freeway and put a gallon in and it got me to the gas station. A couple of days later my van just died while i was going about 10 miles per hour. I was able to start it and drove it about 2 blocks until it died again. It would'nt start again until i was on level ground, but never stayed started. Could it be a fuel filter or pump?

It is possible it is the pump.Alot of people dont realize that a fuel pump has only one way to stay cooled that is by haveing fuel in it to keep it lubricated in some ways and cooled. If you are constantly running a vehicle with very little fuel it has to work twice as hard to pick it up and is staying hot. Just a tip for you .

FUEL PUMP IS POSSIBLY FAILING. TRY CHECKING THE FUEL PUMP RELAY BY SWAPPING IT OUT WITH ANOTHER ONE SUCH AS THE WIPER RELAY. IF THAT DOESN'T WORK THEN LISTEN FOR THE PUMP WHEN THE KEY IS TURNED ON. IF YOU HEAR THE PUMP CYCLE ON FOR A FEW SECONDS, THEN LOOK ELSEWHERE. I HOPE THIS GET YOU CLOSER TO FINDING A SOLUTION. THANKS FOR USING FIX-YA. PLEASE KEEP ME POSTED. BEST OF LUCK.

Chevy truck stalled on freeway after buying gas at a speedway station. Was it bad gas or fuel filter/fuel pump problem?

Good question. All you can do is hook a line up to the fuel rail to get some gas so you can inspect it. If the gas looks ok they you probably have either a fuel pump problem or ignition problem.

Just turns off on it's own, Wait 60 sec. restart press pedel it dies.

This engine is electronically controlled so the first thing that must be done here is to have the systems control computer tested for fault codes and then do the proper diagnostics based on those codes.

After having problems getting 1997 chevy truck to go faster then 40-45mph i replaced the fuel pump, ran fine for little over a week. drove it couple days ago went to leave it started ran for couple seconds...

HELLO: It could be a frozen gas line and or stopped up filter, filter is on drivers side under the truck, looks like over sized small coke can with a connection on both ends. Thats the first place I would check.

It whines, but wont start

How long did you try for? You might just need to keep trying, the lines were empty from when you ran out and it'll take some time for them to fill with gas. Had the same problem with my parents van.
