My 2000 VW Jetta won't stay running

I have checked the fuel pump and the fuel gets all the way to the pressure regulator; I am thinking it may be the fuel pressure regulator or fuel relay how can I check it?

Not the fuel relay. the pump may not have enough psi to pump properly. and you ould have a blocked fuel filter/ ethanpl das has been none to clog lines, fuel pumps, and emissions.and injectors.

Change out your fuel filter first. Add a can of SEAFOAM to you fuel(parts stores). after changing filter. let SF sit in tank for 10-20 minutes in fuel. It will help dry the water that ethanol produces..,

If it turns over faster, and wants to start, that is a sign of EGS(ethanol gas syndrome)/ let it sit another 20 minutes and try to start. If it won't fire through the injectors, replace the regulator(which is also damaged), and that should fix it. Also have a psi done on your fuel pump. good luck

You need to have a fuel pressure test run to verify if the pump is actually putting out the correct pressure. If it has never been replaced then I would suspect it is defective on a 17 year old vehicle.

I have a 2000 vw golf and it will start and idle but when i hit the gas it cuts off what could it be i just replaced my fule filter that wasnt the prob

Do you have fuel pressure? If you havent checked you need to get a fuel pressure gauge and make sure you fuel pump doesnt fall flat when you increase demand for fuel.

I think fuel pumps have been getting more and more problematic over the past few years due to who is making them!

2004 jetta tdi wont stay running acts like running out of fuel changed fuel filter 2 weeks ago

If you aren't getting a error code from the cars computer maybe you do have low fuel pressure.

This can be checked using a fuel pressure guage. It should be done by a mechanic who knows diesel engines and VW's in particular.
