Check for broken or shorted out wires underneath it. Usually near the back where gravel stones can hit. Use a test light to see where the voltage ends. Just keep working your way back on the wire.

1999 nissan pathfinder brakes lights stays lit when ignition switch is turned off

the brake light switch will work without the key in the ignition if you push on the brake pedal, its just the way its designed. if you were to test the switch with a test light one wire is always powered up and the second wire is only powered when the brake pedal is pushes to activate the switch. if you test both wires without pushing the pedal I think you will find you have power on both wires indicating the brake switch has shorted and is working all the time. replace the brake switch.

1997 nissan pathfinder le 3.3l - Brake lights won't turn off - replaced stop switch and relay combo already. any ideas?

The brake switch will stop all current to the brake lights. As soon as the brake pedal moves just off of its fully up position, the switch makes contact and passes current on to the brake lights. You can operate it by hand to check if everything is right. izzit adjustable? The switch is the last thing in the path to the brake bulbs, so it has to work right, right off the brake pedal!

I have 1988 nissan pathfinder V6 2 door. brake light always on without stepping the brake. please send me a picture of brake light switch.and the location where is mounted. thank you

this is what your brake light switch looks like http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/details/QQNissanQQPathfinderQQNileQQBrake_Light_SwitchQQ19881999QQW0133-1839025.html?apwcid=P1135867996W43b3f85c7ab9e&apwid4WdBU8r if you follow the brake pedal up to where it mounts under the dash, you will see the bracket that holds both items, the brake pedal and also the switch, before replacing it,, check it to be sure that the plunger isn't just stuck, readjust it

I have a 95 Nissan Pathfinder. My brake lights are stuck on. The ABS light is on also. And my brakes are sticking when I drive. What is the problem?

You know you have an ABS System problem
or the light wouldn't be on.

Have it diagnosed

The brake lights could be a switch
or adjustment, chech by the brake pedal
for that

Sticking brakes, abs related maybe but most
likely they have to come apart and be cleaned of
rust and lubed
Caliper pistons frozen,hoses restricted
Older Vehicle lots to do

I have a 98 Nissan Pathfinder. I noticed that the brake light keeps on even while driving or even parked and keys out and car is locked. WHen i press brake pedal, i hear a click noise once. Just one click...

check the brake light switch. when you step on the brake pedal, it allows the 'normally open' switch to move to the 'contact position'. If it's not broken, it may just need adjusted, or a shot of WD40 if it sticks.

Brake lights inop on my 88 T-bird

Check your brake light switch. If your car has cruse control, set it at a safe speed and step lightly on the brake pedal and release. If it doesnt disengage then brake light switch is bad.

92 Nissan Pathfinder brake lights stuck on

Change the brake light switch on the brake pedal arm. Go down to the parts store and ask for a new brake liight switch for your Pathfinder and look up under the dash where the brake pedal arm goes and you will see the switch. You will need to unplug the wires to your old one and disconnect it and install the new one the same way. It is pretty much self adjusting once the brake pedal is released. If the brake light does not go out adjust the switch pin to be longer so it will depress when the pedal is released
