2001 hyundai, accent, fuel pump shuts off when putting in gas

How do you know the fuel pump shuts off? Are you monitoring the fuel pressure in the fuel delivery line/hose with the engine running while refueling the vehicle? This is unlikely. Perhaps you're trying to describe a different problem. Do you mean the engine is HARD TO START after you have put fuel in it?

what do you mean when putting in gas? your car should be off when you are putting in gas, after that it won't start?

Fuel pump DOES NOT SHUT OFF.... you have a purge control solenoid valve that's sticking 'OPEN' an sucking raw fuel into the intake manifold... REPLACE THE PURGE CONTROL SOLENOID VALVE.

Can't get gas into my 2002 Hyundai Accent.

The reason the gas station pump shuts off is when the fuel reaches the tip of the gas nozzle, so when you are filling your car and the gas nozzle (gas stations pipe) keeps shutting off it means that the pipe that runs to the gas tank is not open completely, what happens is when you pump the gas in the car the supply pipe from the gas tank opening to the tank fills up quickly and this causes the gas station pipe nozzle to shut off, have some body take down the gas tank and have a look at the gas tank opening and also gas supply pipe that runs from the gas filler opening ( on the car body) to the gas tank. Have a look at it and please don't forget to rate the answer if it was helpful, thanks!

Will not start;will crankover

Step 1. Find a OBDII scanner (OBD stands for On-Borard-Diagnostics). Find out what DTC code (or codes) are stored in the ECU (DTC = Diagnostic Trouble Code, and ECU = Engine Control Unit - it's the computer which manages engine operation).
Step 2. After you find out which code is stored in the ECU, go to http://www.hmaservice.com/ and register your veh (by VIN). Afterward, you can navigate the Hyundai Service Site to find out what system is giving you problems, the diagnosis procedure and what may be needed to fix it.

Error code p0442

EVAP Emission Control System - Small Leak Detected (1.0 mm). This code can be set when 1. fuel filler cap is not completely tight, 2. when various hoses get punctured or the canister close valve does not seal completely, 3. there is an actual leak in the charcoal canister, fuel tank, or other EVAP system component, 4. if any one of these components are malfunction (a), fuel tank pressure sensor, (b) purge control solenoid valve, (c) canister close valve, or (d) fuel cap. An engine vacuum leak would not set this code.
Solution: Take the vehicle to a Hyundai Dealership for proper diagnosis/repair.

Try moving the handle in a different position, or don't put the nozzel all the way in. The vent tube could be clogged.

Fuel

Sounds like you should be checking the vent tube/hose, that runs along side your filler pipe, it may be plugged or kinked.
