If the actual bulb is what you're trying to remove that's the easy part, if you want to remove the actual housing you will have to loose the bumper and the sides depending on what side you want to do first. you will need to actually remove the entire side (the one on top of the tire.."body") in order to remove the housing since it's being held with some screws between the bumper and the sides. it took me about an hour to remove mine.

Your prabably removing too much. Get the replacement bulb first. Unplug the connector and put in the new bulb from the rear of the housing

How do adjust the headlights

Hi there,

The headlight assembly is well secured, that's for sure. The bumper cover will need to be removed to gain access. To start, there are plastic trim fasteners that expand when the plastic screw is driven into them. There are three in each fender-well that attach in the forward portion securing the bumper cover.

Remove these by backing out the screw and pulling out the stud. If the screws do not come out, you can use a flat prying tool of sorts to pull them through the layers. There are two tricky ones that are between the bumper cover and the fender. The easiest way to get them out is to slip a flat prying tool between the fender and the bumper.

Now for the bottom of the bumper cover. There are two more of the plastic fasteners under the lower portion of the grill of the bumper cover that will also need removal. Next are a series of 10mm bolts that will need to be removed from the under side of the bumper. There should be about nine of them to be removed. Now for the top of the cover, there are two 10 mm bolts to be removed. The bumper cover should be ready for removal. I'd suggest you have someone to aid you so that the cover does not fall and get scuffed.

Slide the cover FWD from each side, there are receptors that they fit into. If you have fog lights and an air temp gauge, they will need to be unplugged after the cover is pulled away. Now you have access to the light assembly. On the headlight assembly there is a bolt and a nut on the top that get removed, a bolt on the side of the fender and a bolt almost directly below the main bean portion (recessed a little). To put it all back together is relatively simple now that you know the procedure.

Hope this helps...

How do you remove a headlight 'assembly' (not the

You have to remove the front bumper cover. Put the car on jack stands (the front) and remove the inner fender plastic. You'll need a long extension and a 10mm socket to remove the nuts and bolts holding the bumper cover in place. Once the cover is off removal of the headlight becomes obvious.

Remove driver side headlight assembly

It's easy no tools required.
There are 2 inserts behind the head light, just pull them straight up and the headlight will come out. I recomend you use masking tape on the top bumper to prevent scratches when removing.

Instructions for replacing fuel pump in a 2001 ford Escort ZX2

Remove the rear seat, remove the 4 screws holding the metal cover, and you'll see the top of the fuel tank. The pump module is held in place by a locking ring that can be removed by use of a brass punch and hammer. If the ring is rusted, it'll get damaged during removal and will need replaced. You can get a new ring from Ford. Once the ring is removed, you can pull the pump module out. Remove the small screws from the top of the module and you can pull the top off of the basket to gain access to the fuel pump. Replace the pump and get new fuel pump strainers.

Cant remove the headlight assembly from a 1998 Ford Escort Coupe ZX2 to replace with a new one

You have to basically remove the bumper cover in order to do this.
You will need a 10mm socket with a couple extensions and a phillips screwdriver.
First remove the plastic shield inside the wheel well using the phillips screwdriver.
There are 3 10mm bolts that have to be removed the attach the bumper cover to the fender. The first one is just inside the newly uncovered hole. For the other 2 you will need the extensions. They are located all the way back in the hole beside the headlight assembly. If you look in with a flashlight You will see 3 bolts down in there. One of them will have a 1/2 inch spacer on it. Do not worry about this bolt, it holds the header panel on. The other 2 bolts are the ones you need to remove. Once this is done, if you need to remove the bolts under the hood that hold the bumper cover on the header panel. You should now have adequate movement to move the bumper cover out of the way of the 3 10mm bolts on the headlight assembly that were blocked.

There's an access in the bottom of the air deflector under the bumper. 2 screws in the bottom of the light and one in the back. Unplug the sockets and pull the lens out of the bumper.
