I have a 1991 oldsmobile cutlass ciera

I can drive my car anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes then it will shut off. It will start right back up but when I put it in gear it cuts off again. everytime I try to start it will start back up but Iam unable to move it for about 10 minutes once I leave it off for about 10 minutes I am able to put it into drive without it cutting off. my check engine light flicks off and on as I drive as well.

Igniton module prabably is the problem. Without testing it when it does not start we are just guessing but usually when it acts up only when the car gets hotter it usually points to an ignition issue.

I have a 1991 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera the car starts right up then dies immediately, it has 41 lbs at the fuel rail and obvious spark. it shows no trouble codes on the scan tool but shows communication...

The ECM on this car will shut down the injector driver circuit if one of the six injectors has a coil out of tolerance. (Shorted coil or resistance out of parameters) Quick check. Unplug two wire cap to injector one at a time. (hold/push wire clip inwards then gently wiggle/lift cap off---careful with wires) With one unplugged try starting. If no start- plug back and use same procedure on next injector and so on.........In most cases if bad injector coil the engine will start when it is located. Replace injector. Some say the ECM shuts dirver circuit down to prevent further damage to switching circuit.
