New Battery + Possible Parasitic Drain + Weird Problems

Okay so for the past few days I've bought a new battery for my 1989 Ford F-150 because I thought my battery was shot and wouldn't hold a charge.

Well, after replacing it and having it sit overnight it is drained and there is not enough power to turn over. So I figured it was my aftermarket radio (I still think it is) so I ripped it out and disconnected it. And let it sit overnight.

Got up this morning and it seemed to keep the little power I had left.
So I figured I'd try to trickle charge the battery; hooked it up and it keeps telling me there is a fault and it will not charge... Figuring it was my trickle charger I tried it on one a different car and a lawn tractor... they both hooked up fine with no faults.

So I unhooked the battery and placed it on the ground and tried trickle charging it... Still faulting... Any ideas?

Many new batteries will come with bad cells from the factory. If you just purchased this, I would definately try returning it asap. As soon as you get the new one, immediately hook it up to the charger to see if you have the same results. I have heard of others who have gone through two bad (new) batteries before getting a good one.

New battery keeps draining. Don't know what is going on. It's a 2001 ford explorer sport 4.0 l.

Starter and alternator are the most likely culprits(one day). Interior lights and radio will also cause this. But usually takes a couple days to drain the battery.

99 toyota corolla drains battery. After parking the car for a few days, it won't start...just a clicking noise. I thought my battery was bad and got it tested at autozone...the guys told me it was not...

You may have a parasitic drain on the battery.
Check the voltage on your fuses after you turn it off. Wait 5 minutes before doing so.
Hook up an Amp meter in series with the battery and see what the current draw is. If it is more than 250 milliamps you have a parasitic drain.

Recently replaced the original battery twice because the first one died after a day, and now the new battery keeps getting drained. I think its the factory alarm causing it to die. Is it?

Hi.

There is a number of common faults that may cause key-off battery drain on F-150. Most common reason is not the alarm, which rarely fails in this way, but shorts at main junction box located behind passenger kick panel, power door lock and shorts inside the steering column. If the stereo is not the factory one, check also the 'memory' wire at the back of the stereo for contacts. The only way to locate a parasitic drain is using an amp (and volt) meter to track down the problem testing wiring. With battery off there must be a draw between 100 and 500 milliamps (0.1 to 0.5A according to Ford specifications for this truck).

Using everyday starts okay leave two days has to be boosted installed new battery and still the same problem.

A possibility is something called 'Parasitic Draw'. It's when something i.e. door open, headlights on, modules running.. stay on, and drain the battery. Now in your case it's obviously not the door or lights as you probably would have noticed already. Now It could be the computer modules of your car stay on, I had this problem with a old caddy when I was at GM. Now This is not a for sure, but there is one way to test.. http://www.wikihow.com/Find-a-Parasitic-Battery-Drain http://flashoffroad.com/electrical/Batteries/BatteryDrain.html
Anyone else have any ideas?
