I have to park my cls in the shade on a hot day or the car won't start when I leave work. I got stranded at a golf course recently and had to wait until the sun set behind the trees to get the car to start! It's uncanny, but as soon as it has just a minute of shade, it starts right up.
Now, for the last two mornings, the car battery has been dead and I needed a jump start to get it going. I'm calling Acura for service today!
There is a known issue with a relay, located in the steering column. 2001 acura 3.2 cls you can have it replaced with a better designed relay (Mfg replacement is a little larger relay than OEM) The day to day solution is to cover your steering column with a cool damp towel this will cool off the relay and 'release it out of the mode where it thinks your car is already started' I think the relay cost about 75 bucks. Believe me the cool towel or just cover with a white towel works. My husband has been doing this for over a year because he is too frugal to replace the relay....It works 99.999995 percent of the time. While I'm here this vehicle also had a recall for a known transmission problem, so if you had any repairs to your tranny I'd be looking to my dealer for an explanation if you were charged for repairs. My husband got his replaced free as the second owner after I did the research for him! And that rearview mirror full of highly toxic liquid Acura refuses to replace even after the lowuid leaks all over your interior and ruins your console...
I also am having this problem starting my 3.2 cls at the end of a hot sunny day. Acura tells me it's either a $200 fuel relay or $1,000 PCM(?). Symptoms are the car turns over, but want fire. After I've tried starting for 10-30 minutes so far has started.
So glad I found this info. I purchased a new relay (about $55 at Napa) and installed it myself. It has been very hot and the car starts fine now, so I believe that solved the problem. FYI, the car had several ignition codes that I believe were a result of this, so if you have this problem I would not panic about the check engine light. Get the codes cleared or buy a code reader for $20 online- it's a good investment for any vehicle this old.

I have a 2001 Acura CL Type-S and live in Miami. Don't get any hotter than here. I have never had that problem. Take it to the dealer of another machanic to have it checked out.
Have your air intake cleaned and also put a fuel system cleaner additive every year to maintain your CL injectors clean, I use STP.
YOU MUST BE LOOSEING FUEL PRESURE POSSIBLE CAUSE FUEL PUMP OR PRESURE REGULATOR
