3.0 3.3 and 3.8 liter engines look down on the back side of the engine on the firewall side. It will be under the crossover exhaust pipe and bolted to the transmission. It will have three wires going to it.
My 98 plymouth grand voyager was having same problem changed several sensors before finding a very dirty crankshaft position sensor. After removing and cleaning my problem has disappeared. Youtube has a video on replacing this sensor. Careful when reinstalling. Position is critical to far in and hits flywheel. too far out and will not start.
