F700 truck (F) 5.9, 6.6 and 7.0L engine 370 = 6L sure
spark, fire is fuel burning, and is 2nd after spark (order)
buy the service manual to learn all wiring here easy.
so is an old distributor, engine 92' push rod heads.
and stand alone spark coil and this coil spark tested good
well if yes spark is good NOW! that is what that first test proves
and proves safeties are not cutting spark but may cut fuel.
spark not making plugs means the distributor itself is bad.!
or all spark HV wires bad and all plugs 100k old and dead fouled,
EOL that. or
a bad cap ,bad rotor,(or missing rotor or distrib. is not timed ! anywhere near accurate, dizzy mount is loose?
we test all spark plugs for spark not just 1 (all). and the coil too.
if spark is good test fuel now works, (a spray can called instant start)
into air cleaner pipe tunnel.)
watch scotty K, do that easy..
engine good
spark good
spray fuel works for 3 second run, even do it 3 or more times
so is fuel dead (injectors? (what ever is there IDK))
to hear engines sounds nice not valves bending (LoL)
When it won't start is there spark , does the check engine light come on when you turn the key on ? What's battery voltage at when it won't start , is the charging system working . When it won't start check power an grounds to the PCM/ECM - engine computer , your need a PCM/ECM connecter pin out .
your timing chain tensioner is loose, or broken. Its not good to run the truck like that. If the timing chain is sloppy, the motor is not in rythum spark plugs ignite when the are not supposed too etc. Good luck, if your changing it yourself, I can walk you through the proceedure
then i would replace whats called the hall effect sensor its that black plastic plate you see when you take dist cap off. just pull rotor and lift up the sensor.dist cap is what holds it on.also under the sensor will be a stamped sheet metal piece that looks like the top of a castle wall. make sure its not loose on the shaft.if it is then new dist will be needed
Have you put a spark plug fire tester on the plug wire and verified there is no fire at the plugs or do you just figure because it is getting gas if must be an issue with the fire. I ask this because the age of the truck it may have a plugged converter or muffler on the truck and if one of them are plugged it won't allow the engine to pull the fuel into the cylinders and fire. You can remove the 02 sensor ahead of the cat and the truck will start if one of them is plugged up. The truck will not run well but it will start and run ruff. Hope this helps.
