How do you know it is running rich? The computer controls fuel delivery. If it is running rich, one or more sensors may be giving the computer false readings resulting in a rich mixture. A leaking fuel pressure regulator internally will also cause a rich issue as well as a stuck open EGR valve. A scan test monitoring engine data can inform you of what may be the trouble
You are off to a good start, MAF when it is contaminated it leans the vehicle out it doesnt make the car run rich, depending on the fuel strategy of the year make and model, and of course the engine size make all the difference, bad ignition coil make a car run rich shorted 02 sensor that lean bias make the car run rich, worn timing belt ****** timing and causes the car to run rich.so lets hear the results
well replace oxygen sensors that would cause engine to run rich if you remove or disconnect them oxygen sensor control fuel system it will cause engine run rich open loop mode on cold engine start ups as engine warms up it will go closed loop cause leaner fuel mixture.if you replace oxygen sensors could help rich fuel problem if not you could have intake manifold leak or faulty fuel pressure regulator.
either the float is sticking, when it is running use the back of a screwdriver and rap the bowl and see if this helps, or the jets need adjusted, start with the right one first, turn in untill the motor starts to lag then open it up untill the rpm stops climbing, do the same with the left one also, see if this helps. let me know.
You may have a bad fuel injector or in need of a tune up badly. The early fuel injection (throttle body) had a single fuel injector that would clog and not spray fuel in a mist but would dump fuel. Does it run rough at idle? That is a good indicator. Some are rebuildable but I would suggest replacement. If you have not had a tune up in a while that should be done too.
Have a code test run and go from there
