To start out i get a P0401 code and a P0442 code so i changed out the egr pressure sensor and the egr valve and also the egr solenoid, then erased the codes and 2 days later they popped up again??????

Like all solenoid valves, you can clean them with throttle body cleaner and then test the solenoid electronically with a 12 volt supply.

If that finds nothing wrong, remove the EGR valve and bypass tube and check them for cleanliness and blockages. If they are blocked, follow your maintenance manual's instructions for cleaning them out so you do not damage the valve, then replace them and reset the ECM.

P0401 - EGR Flow Insufficient Detected The EGR system is monitored during steady state driving conditions while the EGR is commanded on. The test fails when the signal from the DPF EGR sensor indicates that EGR flow is less than the desired minimum.

Perform KOER self-test and look for DTC P1408 as an indication of a hard fault. If P1408 is not present, look for contamination, restrictions, leaks, and intermittents.

Code P0401 = Insufficient EGR circuit Flow

The EGR circuit consists of i) EGR Valve; ii) actuator solenoid; iii) differential pressure sensor. These components work together to deliver the correct amount of recirculation, depending on engine temperature, load, etc. So, when code P0401 is triggered, this means the computer has detected an insufficient amount of EGR somewhere within this circuit.

So, with this said, the possible causes are:

• Differential Pressure (DPFE) Sensor is faulty
• A blockage in the EGR Tube, possible caused by Carbon buildup
• Faulty EGR Valve
• Lack of vaccuum to the EGR valve (i.e. valve cannot open)

Note: replacing the EGR valve should only be done, after checking the other components are ok and confirming there is proper vaccuum present.

The P0401 is an insufficient flow code and is almost always caused by the DPFE sensor. This sensor measures the back pressure in the exhaust as is a more accurate way of determining EGR flow than the old EGR position sensors. When the EGR valve opens the exhaust back pressure changes and the DPFE sensor informs the processor of this information. If the sensor isn't reading a change when the EGR valve is turned on through the solenoid, it will throuw a p0401 code. The only true way to check this is to install a scan tool and measure the DPFE voltage. Normal DPFE voltage is approx. .9 volts at idle.
The DPFE sensor dealer part price is approx. $140 but you will find cheaper prices at an aftermarket parts store. Good luck.

I think that you need a new DPFE; first check it, you could also have something restricted. There are ports in the throttle body that can cause this as well. Check THIS LINK.

There sound like a bad EGR and need replace it.
