Randomly won't start, happened after jumping dead battery

Hadn't driven it for over a week. Battery was dead. Jumped it and went to store. Parked, turned off. Came out and it started fine. Went home and parked for a few days and battery was dead again. Ammeter seemed to be registering when engoine was running before. Jumped it again, ran my errand without turning off engine. Parked in garage and tried to start again about three hours later- cranks but does not start.

Did you solve this? My 2001 dies on the regular after a week or so of no starts. Already replaced the battery twice. Alternator?

Probably the battery. Take it the chain auto parts place and they will test it for you.

Why is battery draining ford 2002 Taurus SES

Remove negative cable from battery, connect a test light to negative terminal, opposite end off light to negative battery post. ( let sit for 3 to 5 minutes). Then start pulling fuses, when the light goes out that's your bad circuit. God-Bless! Its worth a try.

Sould I replace the ignition switch, and how do I do it?

Look at the light switch. Sometimes it will turn on the headlites by itself and drain the battery.

Take battery to Autozone and they will test for free, may have a dead cell,or go to WALMART,better prices and they will test your battery also for free, just got me one from there, last one was from there, last 6 years and 3 months and they are warranted for 5 years.Mine was real weak,10.5,should be 12.6.

My car wont start

If it won't crank, the battery could have failed or you could have a faulty connection between the battery and starter.

Well, if you jumped the battery and it started, maybe you need a new battery. Get that checked out first. Also, when was the air filter replaced? I would probably take to an indy shop if it wasn't the battery or air filter because it could be a bunch of things: starter, fuel pump, fuel filter or fuel injectors.

Running so few miles has accelerated the aging of the battery - the battery never had a chance to fully recharge in such small trips -  so now you have to replace it a year sooner than usual.
Just replace it.
