91 Jeep wrangler New everything idles rough, no Power then dies

91 Jeep wrangler New fuel pump, new fuel filter, Cleaned tank! new plugs, wires, cap rotor & coil. Starts, Idles rough runs good at high RPM but wont stay there for long then finaly dies.

signs of a bad fuel pressure regulator. the vehicle runs rough, the engine will not start usually in the mornings. many times engine starts but stalls shortly after starting. a bad regulator can result in fouled plugs. black soot on plugs, blake smoke from tailpipe, running rough, stalling. you could have residue in fuel tank and need to change fuel filter again. have a very good day !!

Hey Mudkicker,

Who ever thought of putting an electric fuel pump inside a tank of gas........

Check your other gauges for accuracy. They do that when a ground is loose.

Check the wiring from the fuel tank along the longitudinal frame for frays and shorts. Plugs are secured.

Under the hood, passenger side, check the fuel pump relay. Switch it with one of the others to test it.

Bring the vehicle to an auto parts store. Ask them to break out he code reader. Check for diag codes

1994 Jeep Wrangler starts fine runs for a few minutes then dies.

I'm not sure if your Jeep has this or not, but you could check with your local Chrysler dealership. Some vehicles have a sock filter in the gas tank to filter any debris before it is delivered to the engine. What sometimes will happen is, you vehicle will start and run until debris clogs the sock filter and it will die. After the vacuum on the fuel line is gone the debris will fall free from the sock filter back to the bottom of the gas tank. Then when you restart the vehicle it picks up the debris again and clogs you filter again. This happen to me once and I have to remove the tank and clean the debris out and install a new sock filter. Good luck.

1994 Jeep Wrangler hard to keep running

The fuel pump is located in the gas tank and the filter is right in front of the tank on the inside of the frame. I have never worked on that particular throttle body, but if it has a throttle position sensor, that could be what your problem is.

Jeep will crank but not turn over without gas and rough idleing

Have your injectors, injector pump, fuel pump and filter checked. if you have a new motor, definitely check the fuel filter. Also, you could have a relay or sensor, have a tech put a diagnostic machine on it to check your electrical system.
