SOURCE: i need the engine valve spec for a 1984 chevy 6.2

VALVE ADJUSTMENTS All gasoline and diesel engines in this guide use hydraulic valve lifters, which require no periodic maintenance or adjustment. However, in the event of cylinder head removal or any operation that requires disturbing or removing the rocker arms, the rocker arms must be adjusted in order to position the pushrods to allow the hydraulic lifters to maintain zero lash. Refer to the valve lash adjustment procedure under Rocker Arms, earlier in this Section.

Testimonial: "Thanks for this response. After removing the valve cover, they are hydraulic lifters. We called 2 leading parts stores and they did not know that."

Needed torqur spec on rocker arms on 1994 gmc 5.7liter

There is no torque spec for rockers. You tighten until there is no backlash, then preload another 1/4 to 1/2 turn. With #1 at TDC on the compression stroke, you adjust #1 by this procedure. You can also adjust intake valves on #'s 2, 5 & 7 as well as exhaust on 3's 1, 3, 4 & 8. Then rotate the engine until #6 is TDC on compression stroke and adjust intakes on #'s 3. 4. 6 & 8 and exhaust on #'s 2, 5, 6 & 7. Good luck.

Valve clearance 4g13

make the engine runs for about 30minutes before adjusting the valves,
valve clearances:
intake valve = 0.20mm(0.008 in)
exhaust valve = 0.25mm(0.010 in)
for reference only when the engine is cold,
valve clearances:
intake valve = 0.25mm(0.010 in)
exhaust valve = 0.30mm(0.012 in)
engine specs: mitsubishi 4g13 1.3L (if you have same engine)

What is the difference between hot and cold vavle clearances

When it is stated that valve clearance should be set when hot, you first adjust the clearance on the cold engine after assembly to the hot setting specs if they are the only ones given, then let the vehicle warm up to operating temperature. Then adjust the clearances again.
If it is just a tune-up(undisturbed engine), let the engine warm up to operating temperature, then adjust.
The reason is that metal expands as it heats up, which affects the valve clearance.

I have a 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT that ticks pretty loud until it warms up. A few people have told me to adjust the valves. What are the specs on adjusting them?

I think the best thing to do is just try a lighter weight fully synthetic oil in it. What you're hearing is the valves sticking in oil that is not bleeding down fast enough while it is cold.

I have a 91 s10 chevy, and lately i have been having problems with the way it has been running on warm up. When i fire it up it spuders and dies right away. But will run fine after it is warm? i dont know...

Hi there sounds like idle air control valve failure. Or also known as fast idle valve. I would suggest locate and clean. If that doesn't help then replace it and you should be good to go

make sure engine is warmed up. Put cylinder one at top dead center, remove the valve cover, loosen all adjustment lock nuts, adust intake and exhaust valves on cyl #1 and intake valve on #2 and exhaust valve on #3. now rotate crankshaft 360 degrees clockwise, now adjust intake valves on cyl#3 and cyl #4 and exhaust valves on cyl #2 and cyl #4.now tighten lock nuts and install valve cover. specs are intake valves 25mm clearance and exhaust 28mm clearance, use a feeler gauge, heres a picture to show you where to check clearance.7675a52.gif

Roller lifter adjustment 5.7 chevy vortec 1999

Crank the engine until the mark on the damper aligns with the TDC mark on the timing tab and the engine is in #1 firing position.

To adjust a valve back off the adjusting nut until lash is felt at the pushrod. Tighten the nut until all lash is removed. This can be determined by rotating the pushrods with your fngers. When all lash is removed the pushrod will stop rotating. When all play is removed rotate the nut one full turn.

With the engine in #1 firing position the following valves can be adjusted:
Exhaust 1,3,4,8
Intake 1,2,5,7

Crank engine one full revolution - The following valves can now be adjusted:
Exhaust 2,5,6,7
Intake 3,4,6,8

How do you adjust aftermarket roller rocker arms

well first you need to know the firing order...if it's a small block chevy the firing order is 18436572. You need to write the second four digits underneath the first four digits.

so it looks like this 1843
6572

This will let you know which rocker to adjust...turn the engine over by hand using a rachet on the crank shaft bolt by the harmonic balancer until you get both rockers for number 6 cylinder moving at the same time. Now you may adjust the clearance for both rocker for number 1 cylinder. Then crank the engine over by hand again until number 5 cylinder rockers start to move. Now you can adjust the clearance on number 8 cylinder. You will need to know the manufacturer specs for the valve clearance...continue until all rockers have been adjusted.

Note: The engine should be warm when you make the adjustment.

please rate this.
