Pull the hood release handle in the drivers' area. While you have it pulled, reach outside and slap the hood with an open palm. The shock should allow your hood to pop open to the safety catch position. Then open normally.
Hope this gets you "in".

This car is a 1.6 16v renault megane, the bonnet release lever does not open the bonnet, the cable appears to have stretched or snapped, how can i get in the bonnet? thanks

hi,
If the cable is snapped in your car, then get underneath the car.Try to reach the catch and flip it manually. If you are unable to reach it with bare hands, a bent metal hanger would help to do it.Now,open the bonnet. You can reach the parts in bonnet now. If you are uncomfortable or unable to do it, please call a "Repair person" in the nearest locality to help you.Have a nice day. Please rate my solution as helpful.

Ford focus 56year key wont open bonnet stripped out grill the lock cable and plastic connection to the bonnet catch is there in front of me but i dont know how to disconnect the plastic connection or...

I also have the same problem with a 2007 ford focus. I have been informed that it is a common problem and that the barrel needs to be changed. I believe it is necessary to open the bonnet by trying to remove the panel/ covers from under the front bumper. I managed to get the panel off by removing about 8 screws but I was still unable to open the bonnet.
If you have any luck, would you please respond.

Stuck Bonnet!

Try having someone hold the lever to open it, then you go to the front and try prying the hood (bonnet?) up with your fingers.  You may have to give a slight push down first.
If that doesn't work, you try 'bopping' the hood near the front edge with the side of your closed fist, also with someone holding the lever to open the hood.  ...not enough to dent it, tho.
Once it is open, lube the latch assembly with some sae 30 oil.  If it is rusted, lube it with WD-40, and after a few days of opening it up several times a day, lube it with the 30-wt. oil.
Good luck!
