Loosen the valves up and reset valve clearance and since it is blowing out the exhaust there is 3 things it can be, timing belt, or chain or valves to tight or distrbutor is off. My guess is you put the chain on and it slipped 3 or 4 teeth and is backfireing threw the exhaust. If you need more help post here and I will help.

2004 Nissan Frontier V4. I need the firing order diagram please.

You own a V4 version? You have a prototype version that was stolen from the factory R & D department!

The mid-size pickup concept for SEMA also gets a wider track, a cold air intake, a cat-back exhaust, and all sorts of NISMO visual add-ons. Nissan dropped the Titan's 400-hp, 5.6-liter V-8 into a Frontier pickup to create this concept for SEMA. The Frontier is only available with a 3.8-liter V-6 from the factory.

Perhaps you mean STRAIGHT 4?

I have a 1997 nissan pickup with a 2.4 liter engine. I am having trouble getting the correct firing order. The distributor cap has one connector forward. The valve cover says 2400 12 valve on it.

Question moved from 'Garden' to Nissan Cars and Trucks.

2400 is 2400 cubic centimeters which is the same as 2.4 liters. It is an inline 4 cylinder engine, so there is 3 valves per cylinder making 12 valves total, normally 2 intake valves and one large exhaust valve.

The firing order is in the link, 1-3-4-2

Rough idle and blue smoke. change exhaust manifold because it was cracks know its missing and sputtering when i put in gear. changed egr valve before manifold.

blue smoke indicates either a bad transmission modulator valve,or a manifold leak{intake} i usually do this test for a bad or suspected bad intake manifold leak, light a cigarette and take it around the intake manifold and look for it to glow really bright for an intake leak, for an exhaust leak you can see it blow the embers away from it.just make sure there's no gas around to ignite.always make sure that a fire ext.is onsite! thank you for choosing fixya.com!

Just rebuilt engine 1993 2.4 hyd rockers backfiring all timing is dead on was wondering if cat is stopped up would this affect it engine was full of water due to timing chain cutting thru timing cover

Double check all your vacuum lines and make sure none have come loose or were damaged when the engine was rebuilt. Check any egr, pcv, mass sensors and make sure they are clean etc...Not as familiar with Nissan trucks but some Nissan cars were equipped with an anti-backfire valve.

1985 720 truck 2.4 (z24) need picture where spark plug wires go

You have the NAPS Z (nissan anti performance system haha) emissions engine. the dual plugs provide a hot spark for exhaust gas reburn and lowered tailpipe emissions. both plugs fire at the same time.
It is not really a good engine platform for high performance modification as its limited by the NAPS Z cross flow cylinder head design, its best to leave them mostly stock. I have owned several of the 720 king cab pu's and can attest to their durability, fuel economy, and reliability when properly tuned and maintained.
