On the advice from a qualified Peugeot mechanic, the cylinder head was skimmed and the valves cut and set.Since we found that the rings needed replacement we fitted new ones. Prior to the repairs the car had a miss on No 3 cylinder, and the mechanic said that could be caused by loss of compression. After the repairs done, the car still has a miss on No 3 which causes the check lite to come on steady and eventually goes on to limp mode. The valve timing as well as the crank and cams alignment has been checked twice, and seems to be OK. The throttle valve is clean as well as the other sensors. Although the car had a miss before the repairs she was drivable for long distances. We removed No 3 plug and found that it was wet with petrol, and also tested the spark on all plugs and they were fine.Could it be that the coil pack has a fault under compression?
Very possible that it is coil pac also could be injector on 3 have it checked will cause problem with over fueling & reving

The driver in the control module may be bad for that cylinder . Have you done a running compression test both at idle and 2500 RPM ? Check vacuum lines to MAP sensor if equipped . The idle air control circuit . What does a scan tool reading show for the idle air command ?

Run a compression test on the cylinders. If reading is low on any drop a little engine oil into the pot. If compression rises you have compession ring problems. Remove all plugs before you try this and place leads away from engine.
SOURCE: one cylinder has zero compression. took head off
OK!... did you do a cylinder 'leak down test'?.. .if not, do it! If any 'unacceptable' leakage, have the head REDONE! NOW!.. you must BE SURE the valve timing is accurate!... Go to www.hmaservice.com and register( Vehicle by VIN). Afterward, you have access to shop manuals, service bulletins, wiring diagrams, etc. about your vehicle.

couldn't have said it any better myself

check to see if the big hose going from the air filter to the throttle body has a split in the hose convolutes. Thus air is bypassing the MAF sensor. IS CEL light on? Clean MAF sensor wires with carb cleaner too. rpeort results.
