On my 02 Excursion with the 7.3L Diesel, the Cam Position Sensor is located at the front bottom of the engine on the passengers side. There is one electrical pigtail plug that is attached and one bolt holds the sensor in position. It may be located in a similar location on your 05 Ex. I do not know where the crank sensor is located. I hope this helps.

1999 tahoe crank/cam sensor?

the 5.3 and 6.0 are famous for bad crank sensor. never a problem with cam sensor. the crank sensor is located behind the starter. you need to remove starter to get to it. ther is one bolt holding it in. check the wires going to the sensor because they are so close to the exhaust the get brittle and brake. if the wire is good change sensor and your car will run fine

Where are the cam sensors (2) located on my 2005 chevy colorado

I have a 2005 and the things that go bad on it is when the sensor goes off then for the intake then where the butterfly is on the intake gets dirty and needs to be cleaned it is the venturi gets dirty and needs to be cleaned and if it is a cam crank then it is the cam actuator that needs fixed you can tell if you take it off and there a screen missing it is a good sign that it needs be replaced and it is on the left side of the engine you need to understand that if it gives you a code that tells you that it is a sensor that is telling you that what the sensor looks after is bad not the sensor

My enigne is getting fuel but will not start. It is a 7.3 diesel

Repairing the 7.3L PowerStrokes can be hit and miss, there can be a number of things wrong and even a combination of things. The first thing I would try changing, if engine is turning over, is to change the Cam Position Sensor (aka CMP sensor). This is a Ford recalled sensor that is easy to change. It is located on the front, bottom, passenger's side of the engine. It only requires that you remove the electrical plug-in on the sensor and remove one bolt and the sensor should come out with some wiggling. Install the new sensor the opposite way you took the old one off. If that does not work then come back to fixya and we'll help you figure it out.

My Excursion stopped several times on freeway

If your Excursion has the 7.3L Diesel, what I first suspect is the Ford recalled item Cam Position Sensor (CMP sensor). If your nearby Ford dealership has not replaced it for free for you, then make an appointment and take the car in to have the sensor replaced. If this does not solve your stalling problem, come back to FixYa and I will assist you further.
