Jul 15, 2014 - OK, just picked up a 2000 DX hatch, automatic. Stock interior everything except previous owner changed gear selector stick with an aftermarket .

To be quite honest, this sounds like a fuse(s).
Locate your fuse box and check the fuses to see if any have blown

Usually, inside the cover of your fusebox it tells you which fuse is for what..

check the light switch on the stalk. Also check the relay it will be under the bonnet . Voltage should be supplied t0 the relay when light switch turned on and then relay should click on and voltage 12 v should be switched to the headlight from the switched relay contacts. Suspect worn light switch . You could run a wire from 12v to contact on relay that powers the coil on the relay to prove if relay works and switch is cause of your problem

You need a new headlight switch most likely have the dealer confirm this before replacing any parts.

If you accidentally touched a wire to ground (any metal part of the car) you probably blew a fuse. Open the fuse box and check. On almost all fuses you can see if they are burned out. On the inside lid of most fuse boxes there is a diagram which lists the location and function of the fuses, and this will help you decide which fuses to pull out and check.

You need an OBD2 code reader that you plug in under the driver side dash DTC connector.

have your charging system checked, you may have a bad Altenator
