Fuel filter is located just foreward of the passenger's side rear wheel well underneath the car.

Under vehicle, passenger side, below seating area, passenger side of fuel tank, mounted to the frame.
When you put the new one in, make sure the arrow on the filter is pointing toward the front of the car.

The fuel filter is inline underneath the car. You will see the silver canister in the fuel line. Unless you have a 2.3L then it may be near the engine and fender.

You can go to autozone.com and register for free for Full Free Online Repair Manual with component locations, diagrams, how-to's, replacements, testing, and much more

Check for any vacuum leaks, check spark in each cylinder to see if your coil packs are good, change plugs and wires!

If you have a service or check engine light on, get your engine codes read to pinpoint exact problem area. May be bad o2 sensor or other sensor if light is on.

3.8 running badly

possibly fuel flow direction(filter)is backwards?;don't take it apart just look for the fluid direction arrow on the filter first. Get a OBD Scanner read out;get them done free as advertised by some places, especially ones that do transmission/tune up companies before you touch unrelated components and make your problem worse.

My car bucks when driving it will die repeatly engine will race. shut it off for a little while start again and it will be fine for a while then will start doing it again

Lawn mowers have had that problem before and what it was is rust or a object in the fuel tank blocking the flow of gas you might try changing the fuel filter there could be contaminate in the fuel line one way to test that would be to disconnect the fuel line from the engine and aim it in to a gas can and have some one turn the key to the on possition watch the flow to see if it sputters if it does theres the problem , then you should replace the fuel pump and filter as well as the inline filter.

could be something with the ignition system, fuel filter. I would start with spark plugs, then wires, ignition cap, then fuel filter, ect.

I have a 1997 altima. The engine sputters and stalls at times. It will cause the car to buck and shake when stepping on the gas.

Sounds like U have fuel /injecter problems , One faulty fuel injecter will cause the others to do the same.. try replacing U might try replacing ur gas filters first if u haven"t already...

My car is sputtering like its going to die and it shakes and when i push on the gas im not moving it does this once and awhile not all the time and there are no warning lights on. what would this be?

Hi,

That could be many things, but, let's start by changing fuel filter, air filter and try to pump gas at one station if possible.

When changing fuel filter, pour the gas of the old filter in a container while shaking it a litlle. check for impurities..

My wife' Astro Van did the same thing every time she pumped gas at this particular station. Had to change filter 3 times in a two month period. Once she stopped pumping at that station, never had the problem again.

Hope this will fix yur problem. If not, will try somthing else.

Good Luck
