How do I add bluetooth capability to this car? When I purchased it new, it had a Motorola Startac phone hands free. This analog system is no longer supported. Also, can I upgrade to a nre navigation system?

I would go back to the dealer where you purchased the suv. The system may have to be re-booted. Check with them first, it should be free of charge. Goodluck
I purchased a 2005 S-Type Jaguar recently and it is Bluetooth capable. I have synced my cell phone to it and it has accepted it. I can call out and it rings and I can hear the person on the other line. The problem is that they cannot hear me. When I start the car, I get a messages that says "Mute and replace handset to continue hands free call or replace handset to end call." What does that mean??? Please help.
If it has the keypad on the left side of the radio then it does not have blue tooth. It is a built in cell phone. The problem is that the system is analog and there are no more analog service providers. Every provider has switched to digital. There is a service campaign that has software to remove the "on call plus deactivated" warning. The hardware is also removed and a pocket is put in the place of the keypad.
I don't know for sure if it will be free, since it was never a recall. I'd call Volvo back and see if you can talk them into doing it for free.
The only things left will be the handset in the arm rest and the steering wheel buttons.
Technology is great but it is ever improving. It wasn't only Volvo that got left behind. There were quite a few other Manufacturers that were stung. If I remember right Mercedes also had quite a few systems that became obsolete.
