Traditionally the hazard switch is where the direction indicators are switched from the indicator stalk switch and ignition switched supply to battery supplied hazard lights. By 1996 these functions were rapidly being computerised so taking things for granted is definitely unwise.

I strongly suggest you obtain a wiring diagram before getting too involved...

Hi Bill,I think before replacing anything else you should give that hazard switch a good workout. The switch doesn't get get used very often and the contacts get corroded and can upset the indicators.Good Luck.

SOURCE: on a 1996 Plymouth grand voyager, where will i

It is in the fuse/junction block in the interior of the car. I don't have a cavity location, but if you have the new flasher, you should be able to match it up.

Is this an intermittent problem? How often do you change your fuel filter? It could be caused from impurities in the gas tank. If there are no OBDII codes, I would replace the fuel filter and check the fuel delivery components (ie fuel injectors, fuel pump).

Don't have a mechanic change the coil - they like to replace the coil because usually it's on top of the engine and easy to access. They just unscrew a couple bolts and slap on a new coil and charge $40-$60 an hour in labor + the coil.

SOURCE: need wireing digran for 1996

When the ECM is replaced you need to have it reprogrammed. It may run the engine for a bit but there are t many variables to keep it going. Some auto parts stores are doing this now. call around. Much cheaper than a dealer. If you had it reprogrammed then you need to check the codes. This will give a direction to go.

How can i fix the problem blinkers & hazards don't work

If both the blinkers and hazards are not working, check the fuse block for a blown fuse. Also see if your running and brake lights come on. If they do, and there is no blown fuse, try replacing the flasher unit, usually located either near the fuse block or in the glove box area.

Blinkers dont work on my 1989 mitsubishi mirage but hazards do?

Turn signals are operated by a different fuse then the hazard flasher - start by checking the fuses - if they are okay you may have a seperate flasher unit for the turn signals too - you may need to replace the flasher unit - hope this helps - good luck :O)

MY HAZARD LIGHTS WORK BUT MY BLINKERS DONT

Try checking the fuse for the blinkers, if it's intact then you'll need changing the blinker switch arms on the steering wheel. Good Luck

Check/replace the flasher control unit.
This unit is usually located under the dashboard. (It's the unit that normally sounds the audible 'click- click ' when the indicators flash).

TURN SIGNAL, BRAKE & HAZARD LIGHTS

No Turn Signal Operation (blinker)The turn signal lights in your car are a basic electrical system that controls the front and rear blinker lights to alert the intended direction of the vehicle. We have listed some of the most common problems and repair troubleshooting tips below:
Troubleshooting Procedure
To start troubleshooting this problem:
  • Turn the key to the on position (do not start engine)
  • Inspect the system fuse located in the fuse panel and replace if needed. If you cannot find the location of the blinker fuse consult your owner's manual or an online repair manual
  • When a blinker flasher fails it can cause blinker lights to say on, not blink, or not go on at all. To test the blinker system flasher, remove the flasher unit and insert a jumper wire between the two terminals. If blinker stays on in both directions without blinking, replace the flasher. If you cannot find the location of the blinker flasher consult your owners manual or an online repair manual.

Blinkers only work with hazard engaged

you need to replace the flasher unit which is located under the dash on the drivers side. put on the hazard flashers to make locating the unit easier (by sound)
