I own a 2000 Chrysler 300M i just purchased yesterday, and i'm 16. I don't need to know the steps on how to fix it because i have no auto training in my life. But the Gas Gauge bounces down to Empty and it beeps then it goes back up. This happens all the time, like every second or two. And I got a full tank of gas and in 5-10 miles it after bouncing up and down, it says i have 3/4 of a tank left. I've driven alot more scence that, and it still at 3/4. I've asked a few people and most of them say it's the sensor thing in the gas tank. Could it actually be loose wiring? I am very poor and if i have to take it in, wheres the cheapest place? If it's over a couple hundred i have to stick with it for a while, or else until i get a good job. Thanks.
The basics should always be checked first. There should be a 12 volt feed to the sending unit and a ground, that's all that is required for the sending unit to send the correct signal.
Chances are the unit has gone bad but have the basics checked first before replacing any parts.
Good luck.

The part is called a fuel sender unit. It's expensive. That is probably why the former owner got rid of their nice car.
The labor should cast around $150 the part can be purchased used and work almost as good as a new one,try to get one with low miles if possible. It could cost around $75/$175 used.

I have a 2002 chevy monte carlo and when I step on the gas it makes a clonking sound and the car bucks. If I start slowly it is ok and reacts normally
