Is there a hidden 'inline' fuse on a 04/6 cy

Trailer Tow Wiring: Is there a hidden 'inline' fuse on a 04/6 cy trailblazer? All tow fuses check good but have no (12vdc) running lite (brown wire) at tow plug or cap. Can not access other plug due to routing. All other lites work so assume all plugs/connections are O.K. Thanks.

The trailer plug is a 4-wire plug into a 7-wire adapter on the vehicle. All turn/flashers/brake lites work. The running lites do not have (12Vdc power before input into the vehicle tow plug or cap. I have checked all fuses (including the larger [#32] fuses and plug wiring, (including vehicle tow plug cap). Everything checks out. Power was applied to the brown trailer wire and the running lites on the trailer work. It is possible there is a broken wire or plug connection but I assume, because the other lites work, that is not a problem area. I would have to run a continuity check to make sure but this is difficult at best. The only other thought is a in-line fuse as I have run into this in the past. I am not sure of this in this Trailblazer. Thanks for yoour response.

Need to know if you are using a 4...6...or 7 wire Vehicle to Trailer socket, and ditto for the trailer itself. Regards DT

Wow...i just experienced same thing. had my mechanic ck it while working on other things and he replaced a tr fuse that made everything except the running lights work. so i found the hidden fuse box under the rear seat and found a "trailer park" fuse broken. replaced it and still nothing. so proceeded to ck all fuses. later walked back to tr and run lights were on. not sure what or why... but only getting 6 v vs 12v. but they do ligh,t dimly.

There are seperate "trailer" fuses in the fuse box in the engine compartment. Separate fuses for trailer left, right and running lights.

Check all fuses, I had the same issue before.

Good luck.

2001 F150 supercrew w/ factory towing - No tail lights on trailer

Not sure which fuse you checked.
The Engine Compartment Fuse Panel ( Battery Junction Box / BJB ) is where the fuse is for the trailer tow adapter parking lamps.
Fuse # 5 is the fuse for the parking lamps, and the reversing lamps.

Next is the trailer tow adapter park lamp relay. This is what BJB Fuse #5 feeds, and the coil is operated by the truck's parking lamps. This is also in the BJB, Relay 201, it is the 1/2 size relay.

Not sure what you took a resistance reading from on the trailer tow adapter.

If you want, you can pull the trailer tow park lamp relay, and jumper the normally open contacts, which should provide power at the trailer tow adapters, regardless of the truck's lights.

I just rewired my 20'deckover trailer. I used good quality lcd's. I have the 7 and 4 pin plugs. everything works but the parking lights on both plugs. I have a 2006 f-150 extended cab. bought a test plug...

Did you check the fuse for the trailer tow adapter parking lamps ? This is a separate fuse from the truck's parking lamps.
Fuse #10 is the Trailer Tow parking lamps ( via the trailer tow parking lamp relay ) and this is the same fuse for the trailer tow reversing lamps ( via the trailer tow reversing lamp relay ).

If you did not get an owners manual with your truck ( purchased used ), you can download one from Ford :

F150 Ford 1998 is there a fuse for a trailer and where is it located? Thank you

There are a few fuses for the trailer tow adapter.

1st, is theodd location on the 97-98, engine mini fuse panel has a 20 A fuse forthe stop / turn lamps. Have seen it covered in tape from the factory onsome 97-98 MY trucks.
This is on page 142 in the owners 1997 manual, all the revisions for the 1998 owners manual I have seen do not include this fuse box for some reason.

Download a PDF version from Ford, for the 1997 MY at :

https://www.fleet.ford.com/maintenance/owners_manuals/default.asp

This is a picture of the Power Distribution Box, additional relay box and engine mini fuse panel with the covers off. The 20A in the upper right panel with the red base, is the trailer stop/turn fuse.

The others :
1. Power Distribution Panel / engine compartment fuse panel
Fuse #1 - Trailer tow back-up and tail lamps
Fuse #16 - Trailer tow battery charge and stop/turn lamps
Fuse #28 - Trailer tow electronic brake

2. Instrument Panel Fuses ( cab fuse panel by hood release )
#23 - trailer tow battery charge relay

I only have taillights coming out of the trailer plug

so, the trailer has no brake lights, or turn signals, just tail lights? Everything (all lights) on truck work ok? What do you have for trailer wiring hook up 4, 5, 6, or 7 way? There is no fuse, the lights all work off the tow vehicle lights, so if the tow vehicle lights all work properly, it's probably a wiring problem, such as bad grounds, loose connections, etc. Get a volt meter and check voltage at truck plug to see if power is getting that far. If truck plug in is ok, wiring problem is the trailer. Make sure all grounds are tight and rust free, that's a common problem.
