OBD-II read ERR from my 1998 Dodge Grand Caravan 3.8
I have "service engine soon" light came on and try to read with my OBD-II and got ERR message back. How can I read the error code so I can fix the car to turn off this light? Is the computer shot?
I checked between pin16 and pin 4, there is 12+ volts, what next? Does ERR reading meaning dealer has the power to read it and not your regular OBD2.I checked between pin16 and pin 4, there is 12+ volts, what next? Does ERR reading meaning dealer has the power to read it and not your regular OBD2.
I have the shop mechanic checked it out and they said it would cost $700 to replace the ECM. I have the check engine light on, speedometer and odometer is not working so as the cruise control. But the 1998 Dodge caravan run fine, except I cannot read the diagnostic from OBE2, it would says ERR. So I cant get smoke check to register. When I want to order the ECM and replace it myself, Autozone told me ECM may not be the problem if the engine run fine, I should get a second opinion? or should I change the ECM? Hi,
Prefix pe is not a valid OBD II code, however, P0700 = Automatic transmission fault detected.
That is a generic code and usually one or more codes will follow that at some point, but not nessesarily. Dodge Caravan transmissions are fully computer controlled and are plagued with problems. If you are experiencing transmission symptoms including poor shifting and even erratic speedometer readings, reply with your symptoms,we can lead you to the possible cause....Mike
Hi the 1998 Volvo Have OBD II and require a code reader to to read and erase code which resets the service engine soon light if you go to AutoZone they will reset it for you for free. Have a good night.
To reset the Service Engine Soon light, you need to use an OBD II scan tool. Usually auto parts stores such as Auto Zone or Advance Auto Parts can do this for free.
WHEN SERVICE VECHICLE LIGHT COME ON.THE DEALERSHIP HAS TO CHECK OUT EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM.MAKE SURE ALL EMISSION COMPONENTS IS WORKING PROPERLY.THEN THEY HAVE TO RESET SERVICE VECHICLE LIGHT WITH A SPECIAL SCANNER.
you can also read the OBD system by using the check engine light itself, simple rotating the key on and off will cause the light to flash. the exact number of times to rotate will be found in a repair manual. P.s. the OBD connector is under the steering wheel
