Try some power steering leak stop first if this doesn't work try going around to all the hose connections and tightening them to torque spec if it still leaks you will need a pump, before paying for a pricey repair have a UV leak detection test done first

Power steering fluid leaking. change hose? change pump? Re clamp?

If the hose itself is leaking (not the connection/end) , replace the hose. If the hose is more than 5 years old, I'd probably just replace it. If it's the low pressure hose (return) and it's leaking at the junction, you can probably replace the clamp. If it's the high pressure hose (with the machine-formed hose ends) then replace the hose - a clamp is unlikely to withstand the pressure and you don't want to take the chance of it blowing off when you're turning.

Why does my van's power steering fluid leak out as quickly as added if the van is running?

Burst power steering hose.
Cracked power steering hard line.
Bad seal in power steering pump.
Lose fittings on power steering lines.
Check power steering components for signs of leaking fluid.

Fix power steering leak

You need to determine where the leak is originating. The possbilities are:

1. Leaking from the power steering pump.
2. Leaking from the high pressure hose at the steering rack
3. Leaking from the return hose at the steering rack
4. Leaking from the steering rack boot(s).

Once you find the leak source, replace that component.

How do I replace or repair a power steering box on a 1997 ford e-350 van that is leaking and has its pulley broken off? thanks in advance. james

You will have to remove the arm that comes off of the steering column connecting to the steering box. "standard" socket and ratchet set should be good. NOT METRIC. and that is what you need to know. the rest is nuts and bolts
