On the dash is an exclamation mark inside a triangle. and on the initial display is a car with an exclamation mark in it.
it has been off for six months but has now come on again, car still drives OK. we took it to a service agent the first time it came on they told us that it is the main battery but this is not the icon that is on. has anyone had the same problem and if so what was the cause??
Red triangle with ! is the vehicle stability control not the ebattery prolly a bad sensor
I have just had a similar problem with my 2004 Prius. I should add that I have 143,000 miles. The car has always run fine until about a month ago when suddenl, at 75 mph, the car went into a complete power falure. I was running on the battery only with trucks flying by. Theat big red triangle light and the "hybrid' lights were on. Pulled to the side shoulder and called the dealer. He said, of course, "bring it in". I shut it down, and it restarted like nothing was wrong except for the lights. The next day the dealer re-turned the car, at no charge, and said he reset the lights and everything was fine. EXCVEPT that the paper he gave me said, "needs new Transaxle $4,500". The event repeated inself the next day but once shut down, the car restarted with no lights on and ran perfectly. Through this whole time there was a low humming under the hood. A second dealer took it in and the next day returned the same verdict. Needs new Transaxle $4,500. I contacted Toyota. No help and they closed the case. So, now I have a car that runs normally most of the time except that it might shut down at high speed again. I haven't driven it except to an independent gargage where they are changing the transmission fluid at my reguest. I have heard that metal particles from the tranmission can shut down the generator and other electrical parts when they get hot.
If it fasils again...$4,500 transmission I guess. Took all the fun out of driving a Prius. With this added cost I could have been driving a bigger car for the past 6 years.
